Gibberellins promote nodule organogenesis but inhibit the infection stages of nodulation

open access: yesJournal of Experimental Botany, 2018
Gibberellin plays a dual role in legumes during uptake and accommodation of nitrogen-fixing bacteria; inhibiting infection at the epidermis but promoting nodule organogenesis and ultimate function.

Bridging maternal effects and epitranscriptomics: A novel perspective in developmental biology

open access: yesDevelopmental Dynamics, EarlyView.
Abstract Maternal effects, encompassing both genetic (maternally expressed gene products) and non‐genetic (maternal state) influences, are powerful determinants of offspring phenotype, yet their RNA‐level mechanisms remain incompletely resolved. In parallel, epitranscriptomics, an emerging field centered on chemical modifications to RNA, has revealed ...

Projected Warming of the Southern Ocean Disrupts Embryonic Development and Hatch Timing in Antarctic Fish

open access: yesGlobal Change Biology Communications, EarlyView.
Embryos are particularly sensitive to thermal challenge. Antarctic fish embryos raised at projected Southern Ocean temperatures hatch during the winter, have a high incidence of morphological abnormalities, have shorter body lengths, and express genes indicative of cellular stress.

Meta-topolin stimulates de novo shoot organogenesis and plant regeneration in cassava

open access: yesPlant Cell Tissue and Organ Culture, 2017
A novel protocol for de novo shoot organogenesis from cassava has been developed utilizing meta-topolin to stimulate shoot regeneration from leaf, petiole and stem internode explants.

Prenatal exposure to antihypertensive medication: A systematic review of neurodevelopmental and educational outcomes

open access: yesJCPP Advances, EarlyView.
This systematic review investigated the association of prenatal exposure to antihypertensive medication with longer‐term poor neurodevelopmental outcomes by evaluating the findings from existing literature. We undertook a systematic review of previous studies looking specifically at neurodevelopmental outcomes in children.

Computer aided mechanogenesis of skeletal muscle organs from single cells in vitro [PDF]

open access: yes
Complex mechanical forces generated in the growing embryo play an important role in organogenesis. Computerized application of similar forces to differentiating skeletal muscle myoblasts in vitro generate three dimensional artificial muscle organs. These
