Organophosphorus Nerve Agents: Types, Toxicity, and Treatments

open access: yesJournal of Toxicology, 2020
Organophosphorus compounds are extensively used worldwide as pesticides which cause great hazards to human health. Nerve agents, a subcategory of the organophosphorus compounds, have been produced and used during wars, and they have also been used in ...

Role of the Calcium Plateau in the Neuronal Injury and Behavioral Morbidities Following Organophosphate Intoxication [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
Organophosphate (OP) chemicals include nerve agents and pesticides, and there is a growing concern of OP based chemical attacks against civilians. Current antidotes are essential in limiting immediate mortality associated with OP exposure.

Macrophage TNF-α mediates parathion-induced airway hyperreactivity in guinea pigs. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
Organophosphorus pesticides (OPs) are implicated in human asthma. We previously demonstrated that, at concentrations that do not inhibit acetylcholinesterase activity, the OP parathion causes airway hyperreactivity in guinea pigs as a result of ...

Synthesis of Fused sp3‐Enriched Imidazoles

open access: yesChemistryOpen
A synthetic approach to imidazoles annulated to saturated six‐membered cycles featuring S, SO2, NH, NCbz was developed. It was achieved by combining the Neber rearrangement and the Marckwald reaction.

Self injection of Dichlorvos, an Organophosphorus Compound [PDF]

open access: yes, 2008
We report two patients who injected themselves a strong organophosphate compound, dichlorvas, and showed the typical clinical picture of organophosphate intoxication. There are very few case reports of parenteral organophosphorous poisoning.

Conversion of triphenylphosphine oxide to organophosphorus via selective cleavage of C-P, O-P, and C-H bonds with sodium

open access: yesCommunications Chemistry, 2020
For over half a century, thousands of tons of triphenylphosphine oxide Ph3P(O) have been produced every year from the chemical industries as a useless chemical waste.

Polar Lattice‐Distorted Motifs Enable Synergy of Local Polarization/Dipole Fields for Concurrent Glyphosate Wastewater Remediation and CO Evolution

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Photocatalytic treatment of glyphosate herbicide in agricultural wastewater is achieved through the cooperative effect of the local polarization field and dipole field mediated by lattice‐distorted carbon nitride. Glyphosate is completely degraded via selective C─P bond cleavage with a CO evolution rate of 1166 µmol g−1 h−1.
