Essential oil diversity of European Origanum vulgare L. (Lamiaceae)
Phytochemistry, 2015This investigation focused on the qualitative and quantitative composition of essential oil compounds of European Origanum vulgare. Extracts of 502 individual O. vulgare plants from 17 countries and 51 populations were analyzed via GC. Extracts of 49 plants of 5 populations of Israeli Origanum syriacum and 30 plants from 3 populations of Turkish ...

Morphological and Chemical Studies of Origanum Clones:Origanum vulgareL. ssp.vulgare
Journal of Essential Oil Research, 1998Abstract The National Conservatory of Medicinal, Aromatic and Industrial Plants at Milly-la-Foret, France, cloned 70 individual plants selected according to macromorphological criteria in 59 populations of diverse origins. They were described and compared in terms of 33 features using main component analysis (MCA). The chemical compositions of the oils

Fatty acids of the seeds of Origanum onites L. and O. vulgare L.
Lipids, 2004AbstractSeed oils of Origanum onites L. from the Antalya and Mugla regions and O. vulgare L. from the Kirklareli region of Turkey were extracted with hexane in a Soxhlet apparatus. The oil yields were 14.1–20.0 and 18.5%, respectively. FA compositions of the seed oils were determined by GC and GC/MS. Twenty FA were identified in both O.

Variabilität des γ-Terpinensynthase Gens in Origanum vulgare L. und Origanum majorana L.
Origanum vulgare and O. majorana are two of the best-known species of the genus Origanum. The enzyme γ-terpinene synthase is found in both species and is significantly involved in the production of the monoterpenes thymol and carvacrol, the main components of the essential oil of the cymyl-chemotypes of O. vulgare.
