Recent vegetation shifts in the French Alps with winners outnumbering losers

open access: yesJournal of Ecology, Volume 113, Issue 11, Page 3275-3292, November 2025.
Analysing 11 million records of 4250 French Alps plant species over 30 years shows that one‐third expanded their range, dominated by thermophilic and fast‐colonizing species, while 13% declined. Most species showed little response, with potential shifts lagging behind climate change. Our study deepens our understanding of the complex dynamics of recent

Botanical Study of Orobanche minor Smith (Orobanchaceae) [PDF]

open access: yesZagazig Journal of Pharmaceutical Sciences
Orobanche minor Smith is an obligate root parasite weed subsisting on Trifollium species. Many of Orobanche plants are well known to have different pharmacological actions such as anti-inflammatory, neuroprotective and hepatoprotective activities ...

Overabundant populations of large wild herbivores disrupt plant–pollinator networks in a Mediterranean ecosystem

open access: yesPlant Biology, Volume 27, Issue 6, Page 1047-1057, October 2025.
Plant–pollinator network diversity, complexity, and structure decrease in scenarios of large herbivore overabundance, but network robustness will be unaffected if dominant plants are not palatable. Abstract Large herbivores are keystone species, so changes in their population abundance can have cascading effects on ecosystems.

6‐Hydroxynicotinic Acid From Cucumis melo Inhibits Prehaustorium Formation in Phelipanche aegyptiaca via Disruption of Auxin Signalling Pathway

open access: yesMolecular Plant Pathology, Volume 26, Issue 8, August 2025.
6‐hydroxynicotinic acid inhibits prehaustorium development in Phelipanche aegyptiaca by inhibiting GH3‐mediated auxin conjugation, downregulating key auxin‐responsive genes, and impairing the auxin transporter AUX1. ABSTRACT Phelipanche aegyptiaca, a root holoparasitic weed, severely threatens agricultural productivity due to its detrimental effects ...

Fusarium Rot of Orobanche ramosa Parasitizing Tobacco in Southern Italy

open access: yesPhytopathologia Mediterranea, 2005
In tobacco crops grown in the province of Caserta (southern Italy), we noted, for the first time in Italy, very many broomrape (Orobanche ramosa) plants exhibiting mycosis caused by a strain of Fusarium oxysporum that is not pathogenic to tobacco.

Diverging repeatomes in holoparasitic Hydnoraceae uncover a playground of genome evolution

open access: yesNew Phytologist, Volume 247, Issue 3, Page 1520-1537, August 2025.
Summary The transition from an autotrophic to a heterotrophic lifestyle is associated with numerous genomic changes. These often involve large genomic alterations, potentially driven by repetitive DNAs. Despite their recognized role in shaping plant genomes, the contribution of repetitive DNAs to parasitic plant genome evolution remains largely ...

Assessing Genetic Variability in Taramira (Eruca sativa Mill.) Germplasm for Enhanced Breeding Strategies

open access: yesInternational Journal of Economic Plants
The present research was carried out to estimate the genetic variability for 13 characters among 30 different germplasm of Taramira (Eruca sativa Mill.) in a randomized block design with three replications over four artificially created environments ...
