Cortisol concentrations in hair are biomarkers of health status and seasonal change, but not urbanisation, in wolves

open access: yesWildlife Biology, EarlyView.
Wolves have reclaimed much of their former range in Europe, including areas with a high human footprint, yet the physiological impacts of human‐associated stressors remain poorly understood. We first examined methodological factors affecting hair cortisol concentrations (HCC) in wolves by using a ‘shave/re‐shave' design to assess hair growth rate and ...

Comparative Genomics and Heterologous Complementation Reveal Sequence and Structural Divergence of Selected Transcription Factors From Spathaspora passalidarum

open access: yesYeast, EarlyView.
Comparative genomic analyses identified substantial sequence and structural differences between transcription factors from Spathaspora passalidarum and their Saccharomyces cerevisiae counterparts. Heterologous expression of YAP1 and MSN‐like genes in corresponding S.

Correlative X‐ray imaging and fluorescence microscopy in hydrated environments

open access: yesJournal of Synchrotron Radiation, EarlyView.
We present a combined imaging platform that integrates beamline‐compatible fluorescence microscopy with scanning small‐angle X‐ray scattering to enable sequential multimodal investigations of hydrated cells under near‐native conditions. We apply our method to ordered cytoskeletal structures in different cell types and demonstrate the direct correlation

Neurodiversity and strengths‐based approaches in education: A Walker and Avant concept analysis

open access: yesBritish Journal of Special Education, EarlyView.
Abstract Neurodiversity and strengths‐based approaches are increasingly prominent in educational discourse, reflecting the ongoing evolution of inclusive educational practice. Each concept is subject to its own definitional ambiguity and has attracted a range of critiques. These unresolved issues at the ideational level risk undermining their effective
