This protocol paper outlines methods to establish the success of a time‐resolved serial crystallographic experiment, by means of statistical analysis of timepoint data in reciprocal space and models in real space. We show how to amplify the signal from excited states to visualise structural changes in successful experiments.

Activation of the mitochondrial protein OXR1 increases pSyn129 αSynuclein aggregation by lowering ATP levels and altering mitochondrial membrane potential, particularly in response to MSA‐derived fibrils. In contrast, ablation of the ER protein EMC4 enhances autophagic flux and lysosomal clearance, broadly reducing α‐synuclein aggregates.

Long‐term hippocampal alterations and cognitive impairment in a murine model of surgical sepsis
Using a mouse model of surgical sepsis, we tested long‐term memory and analyzed the transcriptome of single cells isolated from the hippocampus. Survivor mice showed worse memory, loss of certain brain cell subpopulations, and abnormal immune cell activity—suggesting that post‐sepsis brain alterations may be linked to cognitive deficits.

User Grouping and Power Allocation for Downlink NOMA-Based Quadrature Spatial Modulation
Conventional non-orthogonal multiple access (NOMA)-based spatial modulation (SM) systems utilize only the real part of amplitude-phase modulation (APM) symbols for transmission, but quadrature spatial modulation (QSM) can extend this to two orthogonal ...

Directed evolution of enzymes at the crossroads of tradition and innovation
An iterative cycle of data‐driven enzyme optimization comprising four stages: genetic diversification of a template enzyme, expression of protein variants, high‐throughput evaluation, and machine‐learning‐guided redesign of the next variant library.

Extension-orthogonal components of nilpotent varieties
Let Q be a Dynkin quiver, and let P(Q) be the corresponding preprojective algebra. Let I be a set of pairwise different indecomposable irreducible components of varieties of P(Q)-modules such that generically there are no extensions between these components.

Orthogonal Approach to Independent Component Analysis Using Quaternionic Factorization [PDF]
Abstract Independent component analysis (ICA) is a popular technique for demixing multi-channel data. The performance of typical ICA algorithm strongly depends on many factors such as the presence of additive noise, the actual distribution of source signals, and the estimated number of non-Gaussian components.

NMR metabolomics revealed concentration‐dependent metabolic perturbations in HepG2 cells exposed to H2O2. Rifampicin pretreatment enhanced metabolic competence, attenuated toxin‐induced alterations and produced metabolite profiles more consistent with human liver physiology, supporting the use of CYP450‐induced HepG2 models for improved in vitro ...

Saliency from orthogonal velocity component in texture segregation
We found that a moving target line, more-vertical than 45 deg-oriented background lines, pops-out (d'=1.2) although it moves at the same speed of background elements and although it is invisible in static presentation (d'=.7). We suggest that the moving more-vertical target is more salient because the motion system responds to the orthogonal-velocity ...

Introduction: The use of hexapod circular external fixators in the treatment of various orthopedic conditions has become more common in recent years. One of the principle mounting requirements is that the fixator is orthogonally aligned to the mechanical
