Oryza rufipogon is the ancestor of human-cultivated Oryza sativa. However, little is known about the difference between the root-associated microorganisms of O. rufipogon and O. sativa. In this study, the root-associated bacteria of O. rufipogon, Leersia hexandra, and O. sativa from different latitudes in China were studied by DGGE analysis.

Phylogeography of Oryza rufipogon: History, Demography and Climate Change
Asian wild rice (Oryza rufipogon) is a plant species widely distributed across the eastern and southern parts of Asia. A member of the Poaceae, Oryza rufipogon is commonly recognized as the direct ancestor of cultivated Asian rice (O. sativa). Due to its great economic, cultural and evolutionary significance, many studies have sought to resolve the ...

Nucleotide polymorphism in the Adh2 region of the wild rice Oryza rufipogon
Theoretical and Applied Genetics, 2005DNA variation in the alcohol dehydrogenase (Adh2) region of the wild rice Oryza rufipogon and its related species was analyzed to clarify maintenance mechanisms of the DNA variation in these species. A dimorphic pattern was detected in the Adh2 region of O. rufipogon. The silent nucleotide diversity (pi) in the Adh2 region in O.

The evolution study on Oryza rufipogon. dw by whole-genome sequencing
Journal of Genetics, 2019The species of Oryza rufipogon. dw was first discovered at Dongxiang, Jiangxi in 1978. It is recognized as abundant in genetic resources with the characteristics of cold and insect resistance. A total of 100.15 Gb raw data was obtained from seven pair-end libraries by Illumina Hiseq4000 platform. Subsequently, a draft assembly genome of O.

Contrasting population genetic structure and gene flow between Oryza rufipogon and Oryza nivara
Theoretical and Applied Genetics, 2008The cross compatible wild relatives of crops have furnished valuable genes for crop improvement. Understanding the genetics of these wild species may enhance their further use in breeding. In this study, sequence variation of the nuclear Lhs1 gene was used to investigate the population genetic structure and gene flow of Oryza rufipogon and O.

Oryza rufipogon, the progenitor of present-day cultivated rice, O. sativa, is one of the most studied wild species of rice. It is a perennial plant commonly found in a marsh or aquatic habitats of eastern and southern Asia. It has partial outcrossing behavior and is photoperiod sensitive. The flowering time usually ranges between September and November.

Diversity and differentiation of Oryza sativa and O. rufipogon in Indonesia
Genetic Resources and Crop Evolution, 2015Analysis of the genetic structure of Indonesian Oryza sativa and O. rufipogon using neighbour-joining trees based on single nucleotide polymorphism (SNP) and simple sequence repeat (SSR) markers revealed that O. sativa in Indonesia is separated from O. rufipogon. Accessions of O.

A novel actinobacterium, designated as strain WRP15-2T, was isolated from rhizosphere soil of rice plant (Oryza rufipogon). The strain was Gram-stain-positive, aerobic, and non-motile. Phylogenetic analysis based on the 16S rRNA gene sequences showed that strain WRP15-2T fell into the genus Saccharopolyspora. The strain shared the highest 16S rRNA gene

A preliminary screening was conducted on BC3F1 and BC4F1 backcross families developed from crossing Oryza sativa (MR219) and O. rufipogon (IRGC105491). Despite earlier results showing that O. rufipogon alleles (wild introgression) contributed to both number of panicles (qPPL-2) and tillers (qTPL-2) at loci RM250, RM208, and RM48 in line A20 of the ...
