The F‐box protein RCN127 enhances rice tillering and grain yield by mediating the degradation of OsTB1 and OsTCP19

open access: yesPlant Biotechnology Journal, EarlyView.
Summary Tillering ability is a crucial agronomic trait that determines rice yield potential. OsTB1 (the rice ortholog of TEOSINTE BRANCHED 1) and OsTCP19 of the TCP protein family are two key repressors of rice tillering. Until now, their post‐translational regulatory mechanisms have remained elusive.

RECQ4 restricts non‐interfering crossover formation to fine‐tune meiotic recombination rates in rice

open access: yesPlant Biotechnology Journal, EarlyView.
Summary Crop breeding fundamentally depends on meiotic crossovers (COs) to reshuffle genetic material and integrate favourable alleles into elite cultivars. Recombination frequency is of paramount importance in this process. Higher recombination rates enhance the probability of breaking linkage drag and generating novel allelic combinations.

OsDUF2488 acts synergistically with OsPrx1.1, regulates ROS metabolism and promotes dehydration tolerance in rice

open access: yesPlant Biotechnology Journal, EarlyView.
Summary Stress‐mediated regulation of energy metabolism and its relation to plant adaptation remain largely unknown. Mitochondrial redox potential is greatly influenced by stress‐induced reactive oxygen species (ROS); therefore, we mapped the dehydration‐induced alterations in the mitochondrial proteome of a resilient rice cultivar, Rasi, generating a ...
