A COMPREHENSIVE REVIEW OF SELF-LUBRICATED POLYMERIC NANOCOMPOSITE BEARINGS FOR ROBOTIC APPLICATION [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of the Egyptian Society of Tribology
Self-lubricated nanocomposite polymeric bearings are increasingly investigated for robotic joints, prosthetic systems, exoskeletons, and precision motion assemblies because they can reduce external-lubricant dependence, maintenance demand, and ...

Cross-platform mechanical characterization of lung tissue. [PDF]

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2018
Published data on the mechanical strength and elasticity of lung tissue is widely variable, primarily due to differences in how testing was conducted across individual studies.

Discrepancies Between Micro Versus Macroscale Viscoelastic Properties in a Microplastic‐Tissue Composite Model

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
This study explores the discrepancies between bulk mechanics and spatial mapping in a tissue‐mimetic hydrogel model. Microplastic particles create localized stiff mechanical microenvironments that are detectable by cellular‐scale nanoindentation but leave bulk properties unchanged as measured by rheology.

Local sign stability and its implications for spectra of sparse random graphs and stability of ecosystems

open access: yesJournal of Physics: Complexity
We study the spectral properties of sparse random graphs with different topologies and type of interactions, and their implications on the stability of complex systems, with particular attention to ecosystems.

Organizational regularities in recurrent neural networks

open access: yesFrontiers in Complex Systems
Previous work has shown that the dynamical regime of Recurrent Neural Networks (RNNs)—ranging from oscillatory to chaotic and fixed point behavior—can be controlled by the global distribution of weights in connection matrices with statistically ...

FastNano Liquid: An Automated Platform for Small‐Angle X‐ray Scattering‐Based Materials Discovery

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
We present FastNano Liquid, an automated small‐ and wide‐angle X‐ray scattering platform for the combined synthesis and characterization of (nano)materials. The platform is coupled to varied reactor workflows for both in situ studies of reaction kinetics and ex situ screening of synthesis conditions to support machine learning‐guided exploration ...

Counterion Dependent Side‐Chain Relaxation Stiffens a Chemically Doped Thienothiophene Copolymer

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Oxidation of a thienothiophene copolymer, p(g3TT‐T2), via different doping strategies and dopant molecules resulted in materials with similar oxidation levels and a high electrical conductivity of ≈100 S cm−1. However, mechanical properties varied significantly, with sub‐glass transition temperatures and elastic moduli spanning from –44°C to –3°C and ...

Fully Additive Vertical Organic Electrochemical Transistors on Renewable and Compostable Substrates Enable Ultrasensitive Bioelectronics

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Fully additive vertical organic electrochemical transistors (vOECTs) with channel‐length of 226 nm on a 50 µm compostable substrate achieve >106 current modulation and ∼36 mS transconductance. Ion‐selective integration enables 1.1 mA dec−1 sensitivity and 36 µm detection limit, highlighting a scalable platform for sustainable electronics and ...

Spectrum and fine spectrum of band matrices generated by oscillatory sequences

open access: yesOperators and Matrices
In this paper, a new class of band matrices is considered where the entries of each non-zero band form a sequence with two limit points.
