Optical Signature of Moiré Superlattices Formed by Twisted SrTiO3 Membranes

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
We discover optical signatures from bonded interfaces in twisted SrTiO3 moiré superlattices, including low‐frequency Raman vibrational modes and strong second‐harmonic generation, consistent with strong interlayer coupling inferred from cross‐sectional electron microscopy and ab initio calculations. ABSTRACT Moiré superlattices formed at the interfaces

Physicochemical and Rheological Properties of a Dairy Dessert, Enriched with Chickpea Flour

open access: yesFoods, 2018
Dairy desserts are complex mixtures and matrices including main components such as milk, sugar, starch, hydrocolloids, colorants and flavors, with a proteinaceous structure; they are widely consumed and present a semisolid consistency.

Rhythm of the beta-cell oscillator is not governed by a single regulator: multiple systems contribute to oscillatory behavior

open access: yes, 2007
Pulsatile insulin output, paralleled by oscillations in intracellular Ca(2+), reflect oscillating metabolism within beta-cells in response to secretory fuels.

Strong Lead‐Free Bioinspired Piezoceramics for Durable Energy Transducers

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
We fabricated brick‐and‐mortar lead‐free piezoceramics with Bi0.5Na0.5TiO3 monocrystal platelets as bricks and amorphous silica as mortar. The alignment of the bricks and the presence of the amorphous silica led to anisotropic residual stresses. These residual stresses increase the samples toughness, strength and durability while the brick alignment ...

An inconsistency control system based on incomplete pairwise comparison matrices [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
Incomplete pairwise comparison matrix was introduced by Harker in 1987 for the case in which the decision maker does not fill in the whole matrix completely due to, e.g., time limitations.

Rheology of Cellulosic Microfiber Suspensions Under Oscillatory and Rotational Shear for Biocomposite Applications

open access: yesCompounds
This study investigates the rheological behavior of cellulose microfiber suspensions derived from kahili ginger stems (Hedychium gardnerianum), an invasive species, in two adhesive matrices: a commercial water-based adhesive (Coplaseal®) and a casein ...

Operando Tracking of Oxygen‐Vacancy Dynamics and Negative Capacitance in Ca‐Doped BiFeO3

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Operando electrochemical impedance spectroscopy, combined with electrocoloration, enables a direct correlation between real‐space ionic redistribution and the corresponding frequency‐domain electrical response. In lateral Ca‐doped BiFeO3 devices, time‐resolved impedance snapshots capture the evolution from bulk‐dominated mixed conduction to an ...

Bioinspired Co‐Assembly Enables Multiscale Architected Hydrogels for 3D Printing With Integrated Antibacterial and Bioactive Functions

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A multicomponent supramolecular hydrogel integrating cell‐adhesive and antibacterial peptides within an alginate‐cellulose nanofibril matrix is developed. Peptide co‐assembly simultaneously strengthens the hydrogel network, improves extrusion printability, and imparts cell‐adhesive and antibacterial functions, offering a versatile platform for ...
