Beyond eosinophils: A proteomic dissection of remodeling and inflammation in suspected eosinophilic esophagitis

open access: yesJournal of Pediatric Gastroenterology and Nutrition, EarlyView.
Abstract Objectives Eosinophilic esophagitis (EoE) is characterized by eosinophilic inflammation and epithelial remodeling. However, current biomarkers focus predominantly on eosinophilia, overlooking basal cell hyperplasia (BCH), a histologic feature that may persist despite treatment.

Anti-OSM Antibody Inhibits Tubulointerstitial Lesion in a Murine Model of Lupus Nephritis

open access: yesMediators of Inflammation, 2017
The purpose of this study was to investigate the role of oncostatin M (OSM) in tubulointerstitial lesion (TIL) in lupus nephritis (LN). We found that OSM was highly expressed in the renal tissue of LN mice. OSM is one of the interleukin-6 cytokine family

Impact of Obesity on the Structured Histopathology of Chronic Rhinosinusitis Patients

open access: yesThe Laryngoscope, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objectives Obesity is an established risk factor for asthma, which shares common inflammatory pathways with chronic rhinosinusitis (CRS). However, the link between obesity and CRS remains poorly understood. By identifying trends in the structured histopathology (SHP) of obese patients with CRS, we aim to better understand how changes in the ...

The AB loop of oncostatin M (OSM) determines species-specific signaling in humans and mice

open access: yesJournal of Biological Chemistry, 2018
The pleiotropic interleukin-6 (IL-6)–type cytokine oncostatin M (OSM) signals in multiple cell types, affecting processes such as cell differentiation, hematopoiesis, and inflammation. In humans, OSM exerts its effects through activation of either of two

Finding Maximum Weight 2‐Packing Sets on Arbitrary Graphs

open access: yesNetworks, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT A 2‐packing set for an undirected, weighted graph G=(V,E,w)$$ G=\left(V,\kern0.3em E,\kern0.3em w\right) $$ is a subset 𝒮⊆V such that any two vertices v1,v2∈𝒮 are not adjacent and have no common neighbors. The Maximum Weight 2‐Packing Set problem that asks for a 2‐packing set of maximum weight is NP$$ \mathbf{NP} $$‐hard. Next to 13 novel data

Protected and productive: How greenhouses should deliver UK food security

open access: yesPLANTS, PEOPLE, PLANET, EarlyView.
The United Kingdom produces less than 20% of its fruit and ~50% of its vegetables, leaving it highly import dependent and vulnerable to supply chain disruptions. Our study maps 2085 ha of existing greenhouses, over 70% more than 40 years old, and identifies where modern infrastructure could expand production.

Using Crowdsourced Trajectories for Automated OSM Data Entry Approach

open access: yesItalian National Conference on Sensors, 2016
The concept of crowdsourcing is nowadays extensively used to refer to the collection of data and the generation of information by large groups of users/contributors.

Luminescence of Tb3+ and Eu3+ Single‐Doped and Double‐Doped LiSrVO4 Phosphors

open access: yesphysica status solidi (b), EarlyView.
Typical emissions of Tb3+ and Eu3+ ions and the energy transfer mechanism from Tb3+ to Eu3+ are observed when excited at 345 nm. The emission intensity of Tb3+, Eu3+‐doped LiSrVO4 is enhanced by Eu doping. The CIE coordinates of the phosphors can be tuned from orange to red by changing the Eu doping.
