OSMAC approach leads to new fusarielin metabolites from Fusarium tricinctum

The Journal of Antibiotics, 2017
Using the OSMAC (One Strain MAny Compounds) approach, the fungal endophyte Fusarium tricinctum was cultivated on fruit and vegetable juice-supplemented solid rice media. This led to an up to 80-fold increase in the accumulation of the new natural product fusarielin J (1), as well as to the induction of two new natural products fusarielin K (2) and ...

Novel bioactive molecules from Lentzea violacea strain AS 08 using one strain-many compounds (OSMAC) approach

Bioorganic & Medicinal Chemistry Letters, 2017
A new eudesmane sesquiterpenoid (1), and a new homologue of virginiae butanolide E (2) along with butyl isobutyl phthalate (3) were isolated from, actinomycete-Lentzea violacea strain AS08 isolated from north western Himalayas by stressing on modified one strain-many compounds (OSMAC) method.

Cytotoxic Bromine- and Iodine-Containing Cytochalasins Produced by the Mangrove Endophytic Fungus Phomopsis sp. QYM-13 Using the OSMAC Approach

Journal of Natural Products, 2022
Twelve new cytochalasins, phomopchalasins D-O (1-3, 5-12, and 14), including one brominated (2) and two iodinated cytochalasins (3 and 6), together with six known analogues (4, 13, and 15-18) were isolated from the mangrove-derived fungus Phomopsis sp. QYM-13 treated with 3% NaBr or 3% KI in potato liquid medium.

Naphthalene derivatives and halogenate quinoline from the coral-derived fungus Trichoderma harzianum (XS-20090075) through OSMAC approach

Journal of Asian Natural Products Research, 2020
OSMAC approach was performed on the soft coral-derived fungus Trichoderma harzianum (XS-20090075) leading to the significant changes of its secondary metabolites by using two different cultures. A new naphthalene derivative, trichoharzin B (1) and a new natural product, methyl-trichoharzin (2) were isolated by using rice medium.

A Combination of Genome Mining with an OSMAC Approach Facilitates the Discovery of and Contributions to the Biosynthesis of Melleolides from the Basidiomycete Armillaria tabescens

Journal of Agricultural and Food Chemistry, 2022
Genome mining revealed that the genomes of basidiomycetes may include a considerable number of biosynthetic gene clusters (BGCs), yet numerous clusters remain unidentified. Herein, we report a combination of genome mining with an OSMAC (one strain, many compounds) approach to characterize the spectrum of melleolides produced by Armillaria tabescens ...

Pseudophomins A–D Produced from Pseudomonas sp. HN8-3 Using an OSMAC Approach and Their Roles in Biocontrol of Phytophthora capsici in Cucumbers

Journal of Agricultural and Food Chemistry, 2023
In this study, two new cyclic lipopeptides (CLPs) pseudophomins C (3) and D (4) and two known CLPs pseudophomins A (1) and B (2) were produced and characterized from the bacterial supernatant of Pseudomonas sp. HN8-3 by an OSMAC (one strain-many compounds) approach.

Microbial Coculture and OSMAC Approach as Strategies to Induce Cryptic Fungal Biogenetic Gene Clusters

2017
This chapter provides an overview of successful examples that highlight the power of the one strain many compounds (OSMAC) approach or of microbial cocultivation for an elicitation of bioactive fungal natural products that resulted either in an enhanced accumulation of constitutively present compounds, and/or in an accumulation of new natural compounds

Improvement of bioactive metabolite production in microbial cultures—A systems approach by OSMAC and deconvolution‐based 1HNMR quantification

Magnetic Resonance in Chemistry, 2019
AbstractTraditionally, the screening of metabolites in microbial matrices is performed by monocultures. Nonetheless, the absence of biotic and abiotic interactions generally observed in nature still limit the chemical diversity and leads to “poorer” chemical profiles. Nowadays, several methods have been developed to determine the conditions under which

[OSMAC (one strain many compounds) approach in the research of microbial metabolites--a review].

Wei sheng wu xue bao = Acta microbiologica Sinica, 2010
Microbial secondary metabolites have a wide range of biological activities due to their structural diversity and have been proved a major source for drug lead compounds. However, the traditional method of a single culture restricts the metabolic pathways of microorganisms and as a result many metabolites cannot be formed.
