Development of a rationale for decoupling osmotic coefficient of electrolytes into electrostatic and nonelectrostatic contributions

open access: yes, 2018
In this work, a method has been developed to decouple the electrostatic and the nonelectrostatic contributions to the osmotic coefficient. The observation, that the osmotic coefficient-molality plot exhibits a linear region over a significant range of ...

Kinetics of Osmotic Dehydration under Vacuum

open access: yes, 1996
Osmotic dehydration under vacuum was studied. The effect of vacuum application was explained on the basis of the diffusional osmotic transport parameter, the mass transfer coefficient and interfacial area.

Effects of charge on osmotic reflection coefficients of macromolecules in porous membranes [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Colloid and Interface Science, 2009
A model based on continuum hydrodynamics and electrostatics was developed to predict the combined effects of molecular charge and size on the osmotic reflection coefficient (sigma(o)) of a macromolecule in a fibrous membrane, such as a biological hydrogel.

Measurement of grouped intracellular solute osmotic virial coefficients

open access: yesCryobiology, 2020
Models of cellular osmotic behaviour depend on thermodynamic solution theories to calculate chemical potentials in the solutions inside and outside the cell. These solutions are generally thermodynamically non-ideal under cryobiological conditions. The molality-based Elliott et al.
