Osteonectin in osteosarcomas: A marker for differential diagnosis and/or prognosis?

open access: yesAnnals of Oncology, 1992
Seventy-five osteosarcomas at various grades of histologic differentiation were investigated for evidence of osteonectin. According to the results of the study, osteonectin was present in all osteosarcomas. An association between the intensity of the osteonectin antibody reaction and prognosis could not be established.

Alveolar Bone Regeneration: Smart Biomaterials and Physical Stimulation

open access: yesJournal of Biomedical Materials Research Part B: Applied Biomaterials, Volume 114, Issue 4, April 2026.
ABSTRACT Large‐area bone loss from disease, trauma, or congenital defects requires surgical procedures and bone grafting. Alveolar bone loss from severe periodontal disease and non‐unions often demands immediate grafting. Treating large alveolar bone defects using grafts and substitutes is challenging due to the complex oral environment, infection ...

Impact of Denosumab Adherence on Renal Function and Mortality Rates in Type 2 Diabetes Patients With Osteoporosis

open access: yesThe Kaohsiung Journal of Medical Sciences, Volume 42, Issue 4, April 2026.
ABSTRACT Type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) is associated with an increased risk of osteoporosis and fractures, and denosumab, a non‐kidney‐excreted antiresorptive medication, represents a viable alternative to bisphosphonates for osteoporosis treatment in patients with T2DM. This study aimed to investigate the association among denosumab adherence, renal

An in vitro study of osteoblast vitality influenced by the vitamins C and E

open access: yesHead & Face Medicine, 2012
Vitamin C and vitamin E are known as important cellular antioxidants and are involved in several other non-antioxidant processes. Generally vitamin C and vitamin E are not synthesized by humans and therefore have to be applied by nutrition.

Galectin‐9high Neutrophils Exacerbate Radiation‐Induced Frailty

open access: yesAging Cell, Volume 25, Issue 4, April 2026.
EccDNA shedding after skin radiation injury activates the JAK1/2‐STAT1 pathway in splenic GMP cells to induce the production of GAL‐9high neutrophils. This unique population of hyperactive GAL‐9high neutrophils is identified with characteristics of elevated NETs and IFN‐γ, etc.

Lead inhibits secretion of osteonectin/SPARC without significantly altering collagen or Hsp47 production in osteoblast-like ROS 17/2.8 cells [PDF]

open access: yes, 1992
In an effort to better understand the consequences of lead (Pb2+) on skeletal growth, the effects of Pb2+ were investigated using ROS 17/2.8 bone-like cells in vitro.

Exploring the Neural Substrates of Number Sense: A Perspective on Genetics, Behaviour and Neural Circuity

open access: yesEuropean Journal of Neuroscience, Volume 63, Issue 8, April 2026.
Numerical cognition arises from conserved mechanisms linking genes, neural circuits and behaviour. Using zebrafish as a tractable model, behavioural assays, whole‐brain imaging and genetic analyses can be integrated to identify neural and molecular bases of quantity discrimination. This framework provides a platform for studying numerical cognition and

Biomodification of dentin collagen with hydroalcoholic propolis extract: Impact on resin–dentin adhesion

open access: yesEuropean Journal of Oral Sciences, Volume 134, Issue 2, April 2026.
Abstract This in vitro study evaluated the effect of hydroalcoholic propolis extract (HPE) as a collagen cross‐linking agent for preserving the dentin–adhesive interface. Dentin beams from human third molars were demineralized with 10% phosphoric acid and assigned to five treatments: distilled water (control), 6.5% grape seed extract (GSE), and HPE at ...

Morphological and proliferative analysis of the healing tissue in human alveolar sockets covered or not by an e-PTFE Membrane: A preliminary immunohistochemical and ultrastructural study

open access: yesBrazilian Journal of Oral Sciences, 2015
Healing tissues of extraction sockets have been used, as autografts, for the treatment of periodontal bony defects. These tissues have proved to be more effective in inducing bone formation than mature bone.

Osteonectin and Gla-protein in calf bone: ultrastructural immunohistochemical localization using the Protein A-gold method.

open access: yes, 1985
Osteonectin and bone Gla-protein have been localized at the ultrastructural level in calf scapula bone tissue. Post-embedding-decalcified thin sections of paraformaldehyde-fixed and Araldite-embedded specimens of calf scapula were incubated with rabbit ...
