Detection and distribution of ostreid herpesvirus 1 in experimentally infected Pacific oyster spat [PDF]
High mortality rates are reported in spat and larvae of Pacific oyster Crassostrea gigas and associated with ostreid herpesvirus 1 (OsHV-1) detection in France.

First detection of Ostreid herpesvirus 1 in wild Crassostrea gigas in Argentina [PDF]
Ostreid herpesvirus 1 (OsHV-1) is a DNA virus of the genus Ostreavirus (Malacoherpesviridae family, Herpesvirales order). Worldwide, OsHV-1 and its microvariants have been associated with increased mortality of Pacific oysters, Crassostrea gigas. Adult asymptomatic oysters also have shown a high prevalence of viral infection.

Experimental infection of adult Scapharca broughtonii with Ostreid herpesvirus SB strain
We investigated the susceptibility of ark shell, Scapharca broughtonii, adults to Ostreid herpesvirus SB strain (OsHV-1-SB) through experimental infection by intramuscular injection assays.

Detection of ostreid herpesvirus-1 in plankton and seawater samples at an estuary scale
Diseases of Aquatic Organisms, 2020Ostreid herpesvirus-1 (OsHV-1) is known to associate with particles in seawater, leading to infection and disease in the Pacific oyster Crassostrea gigas. The estuarine environment is highly complex and changeable, and this needs to be considered when collecting environmental samples for pathogen detection.

Rapid and sensitive detection of ostreid herpesvirus 1 in oyster samples by real-time PCR [PDF]
Herpes and herpes-like virus infections have been reported in various marine mollusc species associated with high mortality rates. Following the characterisation and genome sequencing of ostreid herpesvirus 1 (OsHV-1), specific diagnostic tools have been developed based on conventional PCR techniques or in situ hybridisation.

Aquatic pathogens and biofouling: pilot study of ostreid herpesvirus 1 translocation by bivalves
Biofouling, 2021Ostreid herpesvirus 1 (OsHV-1) has caused mass mortalities in Pacific oysters (Crassostrea gigas) in Europe, Australia, and New Zealand. While aquaculture-associated movements of infected Pacific oysters are a well-known cause of OsHV-1 spread once established in a region, translocation via biofouling of aquaculture equipment or vessels needs further ...
