Abstract The present work espouses a zero-waste approach for relying on indigenous waste resources to deliver green and sustainable biofuel. This investigation reports biodiesel production from waste cooking oils (WCO) via cheap heterogeneous catalyst obtained from waste Ostrich (Struthio camelus) bones for the first-time.

The triacylglycerol (TAG) composition of ostrich oil (Struthio camelus) was determined by non-aqueous reversed-phase ultra-performance liquid chromatography-mass spectrometry. Using a column with 150 mm in length, the TAGs were separated efficiently with acetonitrile/2-propanol gradient at flow rate of 0.2 mL/min for 20 min.

The effect of different levels of unrefined fish oil in the diet on ostrich Musculus iliofibularis was evaluated in a completely randomised experimental design, where a supplementary energy rich feed, containing 6.7% fish oil, was fed at four different levels over a 7-month period. An increase in the amount of fish oil consumed was found to have had no

Influence of Emulsifiers on Physical Properties of Oil/Water Emulsions Containing Ostrich Oil
Key Engineering Materials, 2018The fabrication of oil/water (O/W) emulsions in order to prepare the spray-dried encapsulated bioactive ostrich oil emulsions can be useful for increasing stability of commercial products. In this study, O/W emulsions were stabilized with mixed emulsifiers (Span and Tween) or soy lecithin.

The ostrich oil (OO) has been topically used for decades to treat skin diseases. Its oral use has been encouraged through e-commerce advertising several health benefits to OO without scientific evidence on its safety or effectiveness. This study presents the chromatographic profile of a commercially available OO and its acute and 28-day repeated dose ...

Technology Development to Obtain Ostrich Oil
2018Ostrich fat contains a mixture of saturated and unsaturated oils, it is yellow and with a characteristic strong odor. Polyunsaturated oils in it are 18-carbon compounds as linoleic acid (LA) and alpha-linoleic acid (ALA), among others, and are commercially known as “Omegas”, they are not produced by the human body and should be taken from other meals ...
