The effect of different levels of unrefined fish oil in the diet on ostrich Musculus iliofibularis was evaluated in a completely randomised experimental design, where a supplementary energy rich feed, containing 6.7% fish oil, was fed at four different levels over a 7-month period. An increase in the amount of fish oil consumed was found to have had no

The triacylglycerol (TAG) composition of ostrich oil (Struthio camelus) was determined by non-aqueous reversed-phase ultra-performance liquid chromatography-mass spectrometry. Using a column with 150 mm in length, the TAGs were separated efficiently with acetonitrile/2-propanol gradient at flow rate of 0.2 mL/min for 20 min.

In this study, waste ostrich eggshell-derived calcium oxide (denoted as CaO(OE)) particles were synthesized and explored as cost-effective catalysts for the ultrasonic-assisted transesterification of palm oil. The physicochemical properties of the resultant catalysts were characterized by XRD, N2 adsorption, XRF and Hammett indicator, while the ...

Abstract The present work espouses a zero-waste approach for relying on indigenous waste resources to deliver green and sustainable biofuel. This investigation reports biodiesel production from waste cooking oils (WCO) via cheap heterogeneous catalyst obtained from waste Ostrich (Struthio camelus) bones for the first-time.

Traditional & Kampo Medicine
AbstractPurposeOsteoarthritis (OA) is a common joint disease that progressively impairs joint function and mobility, especially in the elderly population. While traditional medicine has long cited the therapeutic properties of ostrich oil, scientific evidence supporting its efficacy in treating OA is limited.

The ostrich oil (OO) has been topically used for decades to treat skin diseases. Its oral use has been encouraged through e-commerce advertising several health benefits to OO without scientific evidence on its safety or effectiveness. This study presents the chromatographic profile of a commercially available OO and its acute and 28-day repeated dose ...
