Rapid separation and characterisation of triacylglycerols in ostrich oil by ultra performance liquid chromatography coupled with quadrupole time-of-flight mass spectrometry

open access: yesFood Chemistry, 2013
The triacylglycerol (TAG) composition of ostrich oil (Struthio camelus) was determined by non-aqueous reversed-phase ultra-performance liquid chromatography-mass spectrometry. Using a column with 150 mm in length, the TAGs were separated efficiently with acetonitrile/2-propanol gradient at flow rate of 0.2 mL/min for 20 min.

Technology Development to Obtain Ostrich Oil

2018
Ostrich fat contains a mixture of saturated and unsaturated oils, it is yellow and with a characteristic strong odor. Polyunsaturated oils in it are 18-carbon compounds as linoleic acid (LA) and alpha-linoleic acid (ALA), among others, and are commercially known as “Omegas”, they are not produced by the human body and should be taken from other meals ...

Ultrasonic-assisted production of biodiesel from transesterification of palm oil over ostrich eggshell-derived CaO catalysts

Bioresource Technology, 2014
In this study, waste ostrich eggshell-derived calcium oxide (denoted as CaO(OE)) particles were synthesized and explored as cost-effective catalysts for the ultrasonic-assisted transesterification of palm oil. The physicochemical properties of the resultant catalysts were characterized by XRD, N2 adsorption, XRF and Hammett indicator, while the ...

The effect of dietary fish oil rich in n−3 fatty acids on the organoleptic, fatty acid and physicochemical characteristics of ostrich meat

Meat Science, 2005
The effect of different levels of unrefined fish oil in the diet on ostrich Musculus iliofibularis was evaluated in a completely randomised experimental design, where a supplementary energy rich feed, containing 6.7% fish oil, was fed at four different levels over a 7-month period. An increase in the amount of fish oil consumed was found to have had no
