Salmonella typhi is an obligate pathogen that is usually found in clinical specimen from typhoid fever patients. The pathogenicmechanism of bacteria are not fully elucidated especially its potential activity of the outer membrane protein (OMP) as ...

Pushing the Envelope: The Mysterious Journey Through the Bacterial Secretory Machinery, and Beyond
Gram-negative bacteria are contained by an envelope composed of inner and outer-membranes with the peptidoglycan (PG) layer between them. Protein translocation across the inner membrane for secretion, or insertion into the inner membrane is primarily ...

Localization of a 64-kDa phosphoprotein in the lumen between the outer and inner envelopes of pea chloroplasts [PDF]
The identification and localization of a marker protein for the intermembrane space between the outer and inner chloroplast envelopes is described. This 64-kDa protein is very rapidly labeled by [γ-32P]ATP at very low (30 nM) ATP concentrations and the ...

Protein composition of Rhodopseudomonas sphaeroides outer membrane [PDF]
The outer membrane polypeptide profile of Rhodopseudmonas sphaeroides was characterized. Solubilization of the outer membrane at 75 or 100 degrees C as opposed to room temperature resulted in the dissociation of 75-, 72-, and 68-kilodalton (kdal) polypeptide aggregates into 29-, 26.5-, and 21.5-kdal polypeptides, respectively, and a shared 47-kdal ...

This study reveals how the mitochondrial protein Slm35 is regulated in Saccharomyces cerevisiae. The authors identify stress‐responsive DNA elements and two upstream open reading frames (uORFs) in the 5′ untranslated region of SLM35. One uORF restricts translation, and its mutation increases Slm35 protein levels and mitophagy.

Biogenesis of mitochondrial β‐barrel membrane proteins
β‐barrel membrane proteins in the mitochondrial outer membrane are crucial for mediating the metabolite exchange between the cytosol and the mitochondrial intermembrane space. In addition, the β‐barrel membrane protein subunit Tom40 of the translocase of

Protein induced modulation of chloroplast membrane morphology
Organelles are surrounded by membranes with a distinct lipid and protein composition. While it is established that lipids affect protein functioning and vice versa, it has been only recently suggested that elevated membrane protein concentrations may ...

Dissecting Escherichia coli outer membrane biogenesis using differential proteomics. [PDF]
The cell envelope of Gram-negative bacteria is a complex multi-layered structure comprising an inner cytoplasmic membrane and an additional asymmetric lipid bilayer, the outer membrane, which functions as a selective permeability barrier and is essential

Phosphorylation of chloroplast ribulose bisphosphate carboxylase/oxygenase small subunit by an envelope-bound protein kinase in situ [PDF]
A new protein kinase of the cAMP independent type was found to be bound to the outer envelope membrane of spinach chloroplasts. While stimulated by Mg2+ and inhibited by ADP, the enzyme showed no response to conventional protein substrates and was ...

Особенности воздействия иммиграции на рынок труда развитых стран [PDF]
GNA2091 of Neisseria meningitidis is a lipoprotein of unknown function that is included in the novel 4CMenB vaccine. Here, we investigated the biological function and the subcellular localization of the protein.
