The design of the optimal linear full state regulator requires the measurement of all system states. In many practical applications, this is not feasible due to either the high cost of the state measurements or the inaccessibility for measurement of some of the system states.

Output feedback design methods are needed when the states are not available for feedback. There are many output feedback control design approaches. This chapter presents three design methods that have proven to be useful in developing output feedback flight control designs in aerospace applications. The first method is called projective control.

Delay Dependent Output Feedback Control
2016In Chapter 7, complex control systems with time delay are considered. It is not required that the time delay is known. A Lyapunov Razumikhin approach is used to deal with the time delay throughout this chapter. All the developed results consider time varying delay and there is no limitation on the rate of change of time delay.

Robust Output Feedback Control
2014In this chapter, we consider three types of possible linear feedbacks using only the current output information: static feedback proportional to the output measurable signal, observer-based feedback proportional to the state estimation vector, and full-order linear dynamic controllers.

A new nonlinear output tracking controller via output-feedback
Journal of Control Theory and Applications, 2006Summary: The output tracking control is investigated for a class of nonlinear systems when only output is available for feedback. Based on the multivariable analog of circle criterion, an observer is first introduced. Then, the observer-based output tracking controller is constructively designed by using the integral backstepping approach together with

Predictive Output Feedback Control for Networked Control Systems
IEEE Transactions on Industrial Electronics, 2014This paper studies the problem of predictive output feedback control for networked control systems (NCSs) with random communication delays. A networked-predictive-control scheme is employed to compensate for the network-induced delay. Furthermore, the time-varying predictive controller with mixed random delays for networked systems is introduced. Then,

Output Feedback Control Design
2013As of now, nuclear reactors all over the world employ output feedback controllers for control of total power and spatial power distribution. An output feedback controller can be designed through a conventional approach, e.g., by plotting the root loci of the system. This is demonstrated in this chapter with application to the 17 node AHWR model.

Linear Output Feedback Control
1986 American Control Conference, 1986The paper presents an algorithm to determine linear output feedback gains to stabilize and/or arbitrarily assign the poles of a linear time invariant system. Conditions for the feasibility of linear output feedback control are derived. The feasibility analysis and the control design procedure are based on the dynamics of the eigenvalues of the closed ...

Output feedback control of PMSM
49th IEEE Conference on Decision and Control (CDC), 2010The problem of controlling a Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motor is approached in this paper eliminating the necessity of including a speed sensor and without knowledge of the (constant) load torque. The proposed controller is obtained by equipping a well-known state-feedback scheme with an observer for estimating the speed and an adaptation law for the

Output Feedback Controller Design
2020For DPS, as for most other types of systems, the measured output does not include all the states. There are basically two ways of approaching controller synthesis using the output. One relies primarily on the input/output description of the system; the other on the state-space description.
