Oxidative modification of ovalbumin.

open access: yesActa Biochimica Polonica, 1996
Stimulated neutrophils (PMNL) are a source of the active oxygen species: O2, H2O2 and HOCl/OCl- which in turn can act on proteins yielding a variety of mixed oxidation products. A system is proposed in which a model protein-ovalbumin (OVA) first undergoes chlorination by HOCl/OCl- and next is oxidised by H2O2.

PP2A Promotes the Symmetric Division of MUC1‐Dominant Cancer Stem‐Like Cells in Small Cell Lung Cancer

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
During the G2/M phase, mucin1 (MUC1) activates protein phosphatase 2A (PP2A), leading to reduced phosphorylation of protein kinase C ζ (PKCζ) and NUMB, which promotes symmetric division and expansion of cancer stem‐like cells (CSLCs), thereby driving tumorigenesis. Combined inhibition of the MUC1–PP2A axis using LB100/GO203 with etoposide restores PKCζ

ENZYMATIC DEPHOSPHORYLATION OF OVALBUMIN AND PLAKALBUMIN [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of General Physiology, 1950
It has been shown by the work presented in this paper that it is possible to carry out a stepwise dephosphorylation of ovalbumin. With the aid of a prostate phosphatase that attacks only one of the two phosphorus-containing groups in the major component, A1, of ovalbumin, a protein, A2, containing 1 atom of phosphorus per mole has been prepared ...

A Novel Cranial Bone Transport Technique Repairs Skull Defect and Minimizes Brain Injury Outcome in Traumatic Brain Injury Rats

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study introduces a novel, safe, and effective surgical technique: Cranial bone transport (CBT) to improve traumatic brain injury (TBI) outcomes in rats. CBT significantly accelerated skull defect bone repair in addition to its promoting effects on neurological function recovery. This work provides an alternative therapy for patients suffering from

Simple Protein Foaming‐Derived 3D Segregated MgO Networks in Epoxy Composites with Outstanding Thermal Conductivity Properties

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
MgO‐based composites with highly interconnected filler networks are fabricated using a simple, eco‐friendly protein foaming method. Liquid‐phase‐assisted sintering enhanced bonding with the matrix. The interconnected structured filler composites exhibit significantly improved thermal conductivity, exceeding that of pure epoxy, randomly dispersed ...

miR-30a-3p participates in the development of asthma by targeting CCR3

open access: yesOpen Medicine, 2020
This study aimed to investigate the role and relevant mechanism of miR-30a-3p action in asthma. The results of this study revealed that the expression levels of miR-30a-3p were significantly decreased in the peripheral blood of asthmatic patients.

Translocation of proteins into isolated chloroplasts requires cytosolic factors to obtain import competence [PDF]

open access: yes, 1990
The precursor form of the major-harvesting chlorophyll a/b-binding protein (pLHCP) of chloroplast thylakoids was overproduced in E. coli cells and used to study the influence of soluble factors on post-translational protein import into isolated pea ...

Studies on Ovalbumin I. Denaturation By Heat, and the Heterogeneity of Ovalbumin [PDF]

open access: yesAustralian Journal of Biological Sciences, 1964
The denaturation of ovalbumin by heat at pH 2-3 hus been studied by following the changes in optical rotation, viscosity, solubility at the isoelectric point, and amount of aggregated protein observed in the ultracentrifuge. The laevorotation and reduced viscosity of heated solutions of ovalbumin increa se with ionic strength and protein concentration.
