This review focuses on the application of synthetic biodegradable microarray patches (MAPs) in sustained drug delivery. Compared to conventional MAPs which release drugs into the skin in an immediate manner, these implantable MAPs release drugs into skin microcirculation gradually as the biodegradable polymers degrade, thus offering sustained release ...

Oral tolerance induction with altered forms of ovalbumin
As a T cell-dependent phenomenon, oral tolerance is not expected to depend necessarily on native configuration of antigens. We investigated the induction of oral tolerance with modified ovalbumin (Ova).

Mycobacterium tuberculosis–Specific Antigen Rv3619c Effectively Alleviates Allergic Asthma in Mice
Despite significant advances, asthma remains a cause of premature death, and current treatments are suboptimal. Antigen-specific Th2 cells and their cytokines are primary mediators of the pathophysiological changes seen in asthma.

A generic polymer-protein ligation strategy for vaccine delivery [PDF]
Although the field of cancer immunotherapy is intensively investigated, there is still a need for generic strategies that allow easy, mild and efficient formulation of vaccine antigens.

This review covers the mechanical forces experienced by immune cells through cell–cell and cell–extracellular matrix interactions and how these forces influence their receptors and functions. These relationships between forces and cellular functions can be exploited using engineering techniques to modify the physical properties of materials for novel ...

Tryptophan metabolite Indole‐3‐aldehyde (I3A) downregulates cytosolic AhR and p‐ERK/c‐MYC proteins, together enhancing STAT3 phosphorylation and tumor immunogenicity. Overexpression of the Trp metabolic enzyme interleukin‐4‐induced gene‐1 (IL4I1) in tumor cells increases intracellular levels of I3A and enhances tumor immunogenicity.

Oxidative modification of ovalbumin.
Stimulated neutrophils (PMNL) are a source of the active oxygen species: O2, H2O2 and HOCl/OCl- which in turn can act on proteins yielding a variety of mixed oxidation products. A system is proposed in which a model protein-ovalbumin (OVA) first undergoes chlorination by HOCl/OCl- and next is oxidised by H2O2.

Glucocorticoid‐induced osteoporosis (GIOP) triggers osteocyte ferroptosis via SLC7A11 degradation. PSMD14 stabilizes SLC7A11 by counteracting glucocorticoid‐driven ubiquitination, preserving cystine uptake and glutathione synthesis. AAV‐mediated PSMD14 delivery or its agonist Pantethine rescues osteocyte survival and bone loss in GIOP mice.
