Understanding Biogeographic Patterns in Sepiolidae (Cephalopoda)

open access: yesAquatic Conservation: Marine and Freshwater Ecosystems, Volume 36, Issue 10, October 2026.
ABSTRACT The biogeography of the bobtail squid family Sepiolidae is reviewed. Species of the Sepiolinae subfamily are only found in coastal waters of the ‘Old World’, with a high degree of diversification in the Mediterranean Sea and the Coral Triangle in the Indo‐Pacific region.

A detailed redescription of a skeletally immature ‘Redondasaurus’ suggests ontogenetic transformations in the taxon mirror phytosaurian morphological evolution

open access: yesThe Anatomical Record, Volume 309, Issue 10, Page 2656-2697, October 2026.
Abstract The study of morphological evolution is fundamentally tied to ontogeny, yet studies of these heterochronic processes in the fossil record are rare. Fossils belonging to an ontogenetic series are difficult to assign to an ontogenetic stage due to inconsistent proxies for skeletal ages, challenging to taxonomically assign due to morphological ...

Pollinator Visitation Within a Single Crown of the Rare Rainforest Tree Firmiana daweishanensis Is Associated With Floral Colour Change

open access: yesEcology and Evolution, Volume 16, Issue 10, October 2026.
Flowers of the threatened canopy tree Firmiana daweishanensis change from yellow to red as they age. Observations of 16 branches within one adult crown showed that yellow flowers received more visits and greater cumulative visitation time per flower‐hour than red flowers.

GhTTLL12 Coordinates With Transcriptional Regulators GhMML3 and GhMYB86 to Orchestrate Cotton Fibre Development Through Modulating Microtubule Dynamics. [PDF]

open access: yesPlant Biotechnol J
ABSTRACT Microtubules (MTs) are crucial for cell division, growth, development and morphogenesis in plants. Cotton fibres are single‐celled trichomes that originate from the epidermal cells of the ovule, making them an excellent model for studying plant cell differentiation and rapid elongation.

Modulating the Gut–Ovarian Axis: Mechanistic Rationale and the Limits of Current Evidence for Probiotics in Female Reproductive Aging

open access: yesFood Science &Nutrition, Volume 14, Issue 10, October 2026.
Selected orally administered probiotics and functional‐food interventions may alter gut microbial ecology and intestinal barrier function. Microbiota‐derived metabolites, microbial components, and endocrine signals—including short‐chain fatty acids, bile acids, tryptophan metabolites, and lipopolysaccharide—may influence systemic immune, metabolic, and
