Highly Active Oxygen Evolution Integrating with Highly Selective CO2-to-CO Reduction

open access: yesNano-Micro Letters
Highlights Rational regulation of the coordination environment of surface-active sites on both photoanode and cathode has been demonstrated. Reducing the coordination of FeNi catalysts decorated on BiVO4 photoanodes achieves excellent water oxidation ...

Proteasomal degradation of intracellularly expressed Amblyomin‐X limits suicide gene therapy potential in melanoma cells

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
This study explores the feasibility of expressing the antitumoral protein Amblyomin‐X through a suicide gene therapy approach and investigates its intracellular fate after gene delivery. Although the gene is efficiently expressed, melanoma cells rapidly degrade the Amblyomin‐X protein via proteasome activity.

An investigation into the use of batch experiments in the determination of the kinetics of ferrous-iron oxidation by Leptospirillum ferrooxidans

open access: yes, 2000
Bibliography: leaves 60-64.The objectives of this research were to investigate the effect of temperature and pH on the bacterial ferrous-iron oxidation by Leptospirillum ferrooxidans in batch culture and compare these results with those previously ...

MECHANISM OF GLYCOLIC ACID TOWARDS PIPERIDINIUM CHLOROCHROMATE OXIDATION

open access: yes, 2020
The kinetics of oxidation of glycolic acid with piperidinium chlorochromate (PipCC) has been studied in aqueous acetic acid medium. The reaction order is one with respect to oxidant, substrate and fractional order with respect to hydrogen ion ...

Combined 5‐aminolevulinic acid and ferric ammonium citrate treatment promotes hair follicle growth by activating dermal papilla cells

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
5‐Aminolevulinic acid combined with ferric ammonium citrate (5‐ALA/FAC) stimulates dermal papilla cell activity and promotes hair follicle growth. The treatment enhances ERK and AKT signaling, increases hair‐inductive gene expression, and restores dermal papilla function suppressed by dihydrotestosterone and oxidative stress, resulting in enhanced hair

Advanced oxidation processes for wastewater reuse - removal of micropollutants [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
The removal of micropollutants (MPs) from secondary municipal wastewater by an advanced oxidation process (AOP) based on UV irradiation combined with hydrogen peroxide (UV/H2O2) has been assessed through pilot-scale experiments incorporating ...

Oxidation-State-Dependent Protein Docking between Cytochrome c and Cytochrome b5:  High-Pressure Laser Flash Photolysis Study

open access: yes, 2016
To characterize the protein−protein interaction during electron transfer, we used Zn-substituted cytochrome c (ZnCytc) as a model of ferrous Cytc and determined the volume change, ΔVdZn, for the dissociation of its complex with ferric cytochrome b5 ...

Evolutionarily divergent DUF4465 domains have a common vitamin B12‐binding function

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
We show that DUF4465 family proteins, widespread across bacteria from gut microbiomes, hydrothermal vents, and soil, share a common vitamin B12‐binding function. These augmented β‐jellyroll proteins bind vitamin B12 via extended loops. Our findings establish sequence‐diverse DUF4465 proteins as a widespread class of B12‐binding proteins, highlighting ...

Large‐scale bidirectional arrayed genetic screens identify OXR1 and EMC4 as modifiers of αSynuclein aggregation

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Activation of the mitochondrial protein OXR1 increases pSyn129 αSynuclein aggregation by lowering ATP levels and altering mitochondrial membrane potential, particularly in response to MSA‐derived fibrils. In contrast, ablation of the ER protein EMC4 enhances autophagic flux and lysosomal clearance, broadly reducing α‐synuclein aggregates.
