Front-face fluorescence spectroscopy and chemometrics for quality control of cold-pressed rapeseed oil during storage [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
The aim of this study was to test the usability of fluorescence spectroscopy to evaluate the stability of cold-pressed rapeseed oil during storage. Freshly-pressed rapeseed oil was stored in colorless and green glass bottles exposed to light, and in ...

Hands‐on protocol for preparing water‐soluble fractions from agri‐food samples for NMR‐based metabolomics analysis

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
This research protocol outlines a workflow for nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR)‐based metabolomics in the agri‐food sector. Using two case studies—strawberry leaves (solid matrix) and wine (liquid matrix)—it details the procedures for sample preparation, data acquisition, and processing.

Autoxidation of lipids in parchment [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
Historic parchment is a macromolecular material, which is complex due to its natural origin, inhomogeneity of the skin structure, unknown environmental history and potential localised degradation.

Establishment of a coculture system for Porphyromonas gingivalis and head and neck squamous cell carcinoma using spheroid culture and LATS inhibition

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
We established a spheroid coculture system enabling viable Porphyromonas gingivalis–HNSCC interactions under normoxic conditions. Inhibition of LATS1/2 maintains tumor cells in an undifferentiated state, which may promote spheroid growth and create a more permissive environment for bacterial persistence.

Synthesis of perfluoroalkylene aromatic diamines [PDF]

open access: yes
Analogues of methylene dianilines were synthesized, in which the methylene group between the two aromatic nuclei was replaced by various perfluoroalkylene linkage.

Photooxidation of Polymeric-inorganic nanocomposites: Chemical, Thermal Stability and Fire Retardancy Investigations [PDF]

open access: yes, 2001
Nanocomposites of polypropylene-graft-maleic anhydride/clay and polypropylene/clay were prepared by melt blending using two different approaches. X-Ray diffraction results showed an intercalated structure.

DDX3X induces mesenchymal transition of endothelial cells by disrupting BMPR2 signaling

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Elevated DDX3X expression led to downregulation of BMPR2, a key regulator of endothelial homeostasis and function. Our co‐immunoprecipitation assays further demonstrated a molecular interaction between DDX3X and BMPR2. Notably, DDX3X promoted lysosomal degradation of BMPR2, thereby impairing its downstream signaling and facilitating endothelial‐to ...

Formulation/cure technology for ultrahigh molecular weight silphenylene-siloxane polymers [PDF]

open access: yes
Molecular weights above one million were achieved for methylvinylsilphenylene-siloxane terpolymers using a two-stage polymerization technique which was successfully scaled up to 200 grams.

Antibiofilm activity of a chionodracine‐derived peptide by NMR‐based metabolomics of cell‐free supernatant of Acinetobacter baumannii clinical strains

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
KHS‐Cnd peptide is able to impair biofilm formation and disaggregate mature biofilms in Acinetobacter baumannii clinical isolates. Differences in extracellular metabolites reflect changes in biofilm metabolism due to KHS‐Cnd treatment. Among the differentially represented extracellular metabolites upon KHS‐Cnd treatment, the significantly altered ...

Investigating the Effect of Different Bovine Colostrum Concentrations Added to Ground Rabbit Patties on the Survival of Listeria monocytogenes and Meat Quality

open access: yesApplied Sciences
Bovine colostrum is naturally rich in antimicrobial and antioxidant compounds, making it a promising candidate for improving the safety and quality of fresh meat products. This study aimed to evaluate the effect of incorporating bovine colostrum at 1%, 3%
