Porous anodic metal oxides

open access: yes, 2010
An equifield strength model has been established to elucidate the formation mechanism for the highly ordered alumina pore arrays and titanium oxide nanotubular arrays prepared via a common electrochemical methodology, anodisation. The fundamentals of the

Persulfate Activation on Crystallographic Manganese Oxides: Mechanism of Singlet Oxygen Evolution for Nonradical Selective Degradation of Aqueous Contaminants.

open access: yesEnvironmental Science and Technology, 2018
Minerals and transitional metal oxides of earth-abundant elements are desirable catalysts for in situ chemical oxidation in environmental remediation. However, catalytic activation of peroxydisulfate (PDS) by manganese oxides was barely investigated.

Spatiotemporal and quantitative analyses of phosphoinositides – fluorescent probe—and mass spectrometry‐based approaches

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Fluorescent probes allow dynamic visualization of phosphoinositides in living cells (left), whereas mass spectrometry provides high‐sensitivity, isomer‐resolved quantitation (right). Their synergistic use captures complementary aspects of lipid signaling. This review illustrates how these approaches reveal the spatiotemporal regulation and quantitative

Pulsed and continuous-wave magnetic resonance spectroscopy using a low-cost software-defined radio

open access: yesAIP Advances, 2019
Software-defined radios (SDRs) constitute a modern and highly adaptive realization of a radio-frequency transceiver system. This work demonstrates how a particular radio transceiver, namely, the LimeSDR board, can be configured for pulsed and continuous ...

Pressure Influence on the Stability and Formation of γ - Fe4N when Transformed into Fe4O [PDF]

open access: yesMaterials Research, 2013
The improved technology has allowed the study of electronic structure of solids with a complex crystalline structure and containing various atoms, different in the unit cell, and thus we can calculate the energy of formation and obtaining the bulk ...

High entropy oxides for reversible energy storage

open access: yesNature Communications, 2018
In recent years, the concept of entropy stabilization of crystal structures in oxide systems has led to an increased research activity in the field of “high entropy oxides”. These compounds comprise the incorporation of multiple metal cations into single-

An upstream open reading frame regulates expression of the mitochondrial protein Slm35 and mitophagy flux

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
This study reveals how the mitochondrial protein Slm35 is regulated in Saccharomyces cerevisiae. The authors identify stress‐responsive DNA elements and two upstream open reading frames (uORFs) in the 5′ untranslated region of SLM35. One uORF restricts translation, and its mutation increases Slm35 protein levels and mitophagy.
