Metabolomic analysis reveals the molecular mechanism related to leg abnormality in broilers

open access: yesAnimal Research and One Health, EarlyView.
The graphical abstract shows the principal results of this study. Compared to the leg normal broilers, the serum calcium to phosphorus ratio was extremely decreased in the group with deformed leg bones. Additionally, a total of nine differential metabolites significantly associated with leg abnormalities and serum calcium and phosphorus levels were ...

Activation of AMP-Activated Protein Kinase Inhibits Oxidized LDL-Triggered Endoplasmic Reticulum Stress In Vivo

open access: yesDiabetes, 2010
OBJECTIVE The oxidation of LDLs is considered a key step in the development of atherosclerosis. How LDL oxidation contributes to atherosclerosis remains poorly defined.

Dual Functions of Dietary Rubber Seed Oil Supplementation: Enriching N‐3 Polyunsaturated Fatty Acids and Enhancing Antioxidant Capacity in Pekin Ducks

open access: yesAnimal Research and One Health, EarlyView.
Dietary RSO supplementation improved growth performance, simultaneously enriched n‐3 polyunsaturated fatty acids (n‐3 PUFA), and enhanced antioxidant capacity in Pekin ducks, which suggested that RSO has the potential to be a novel n‐3 PUFA source and an antioxidant for Pekin ducks to generate animal functional foods.

Minimally oxidized LDL is a potent inhibitor of lecithin:cholesterol acyltransferase activity

open access: yesJournal of Lipid Research, 1996
The oxidation of low density lipoproteins (LDL) has been implicated in the development of atherosclerosis. As a variety of highly reactive lipid peroxidation products can transfer from oxidized LDL to HDL, we evaluated the potential deleterious effects ...

Dietary Baicalin Supplementation Can Enhance the Growth Performance of Weaned Piglets and Maintain the Intestinal Barrier Integrity

open access: yesAnimal Research and One Health, EarlyView.
This research innovatively illustrates baicalin’s multifaceted mechanisms in enhancing piglets’ intestinal health: modulating bile acid metabolism via probiotics, reinforcing tight junction proteins (ZO‐1/claudin), suppressing TLR4/NF‐κB‐mediated inflammation, whereas promoting growth and reducing diarrhea.

Fabrication of Polypyrrole–Polystyrene Sulfonate by Amperometric Biosensor‐Based Electropolymerization for Cholesterol Determination in Serum

open access: yesBiotechnology and Applied Biochemistry, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Since cholesterol triggers many diseases, many methods have been developed for its determination. In this study, an alternative system for cholesterol determination was developed by preparing amperometric biosensors. In the development of the biosensor, Pt/polypyrrole–polystyrene sulfonate film was prepared by electropolymerization of ...

Circulating oxidized LDL, increased in patients with acute myocardial infarction, is accompanied by heavily modified HDL[S]

open access: yesJournal of Lipid Research, 2020
Oxidized LDL (oxLDL) is a known risk factor for atherogenesis. This study aimed to reveal structural features of oxLDL present in human circulation related to atherosclerosis. When LDL was fractionated on an anion-exchange column, in vivo-oxLDL, detected

Minimally oxidized LDL inhibits macrophage selective cholesteryl ester uptake and native LDL-induced foam cell formation[S]

open access: yesJournal of Lipid Research, 2014
Scavenger receptor-mediated uptake of oxidized LDL (oxLDL) is thought to be the major mechanism of foam cell generation in atherosclerotic lesions. Recent data has indicated that native LDL is also capable of contributing to foam cell formation via low ...

Monoclonal Antibodies which Discriminate Between Native and Oxidized Low Density Lipoproteins

open access: yesRevista Cubana de Investigaciones Biomédicas, 2020
Introduction: Atherosclerosis is a chronic inflammatory disorder and oxidation of low density lipoproteins (LDL) is thought to play a central role in atherogenesis.

Increased fluidity and oxidation of malarial lipoproteins: relation with severity and induction of endothelial expression of adhesion molecules

open access: yesLipids in Health and Disease, 2004
Introduction Oxidative stress has been demonstrated in malaria. The potential oxidative modification of lipoproteins derived from malaria patients was studied. These oxidized lipids may have role in pathogenesis of malaria.
