Lattice-oxygen modulation for redox stabilization and multi-electron transfer in lithium-rich cathodes

open access: yesMaterials Reports: Energy
Lithium-rich layered oxides (LRLOs) are promising cathode materials due to their high specific capacity, energy density, and operating voltage. However, their performance is hindered by the limited redox activity of transition metals, leading to oxygen ...

Rethinking Oxygen Redox: Does Oxygen Dimerisation Occur without Oxidation in Li2NiO3?

open access: yes
In layered lithium transition metal oxide cathodes, high voltage operation is accompanied by the formation of oxygen dimers, which are widely used as an indicator of oxygen-redox activity. However, understanding the role that oxygen dimerisation plays in

Humidity and Light Modulate Oxygen-Induced Viability Loss in Dehydrated Haematococcus lacustris Cells

open access: yes, 2022
Haematoccocus lacustris (previously H. pluvialis) is a desiccation-tolerant unicellular freshwater green alga. During acclimation to desiccation, astaxanthin-rich lipid bodies and low-molecular-weight antioxidants (α-tocopherol, glutathione ...

3D Printing Innovations in Polymeric Porous and Patterned Architecture

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Polymeric foams occupy a unique structural space between dense solids and open networks, where engineered void fraction governs mechanical compliance, thermal resistance, and mass transport. Additive manufacturing now enables precise spatial control over cellular architecture, unlocking designer foam structures across applications spanning crash ...

Spectroscopic Investigation of Polysulfide Redox Evolution in Catholyte Solutions for Potassium–Sulfur Batteries

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Potassium–sulfur batteries are investigated using UV–vis spectroscopy to track the evolution of potassium polysulfide species at elevated temperature. The study reveals sulfur radical anions as key intermediates and shows how solvent composition and cell design influence polysulfide stability, redox behavior, and cycling performance, providing insights

Long‐Range Coordination Environment Modulates Single‐Atom Local States and Systemic Impact on CO2 Photoconversion

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Terminal groups on Cu porphyrins modulate the electronic states of single‐atom Cu centers through a long‐range electronic effect, without altering the Cu coordination geometry. Meanwhile, a multi‐descriptor framework is established that incorporates porphyrin regulation, hybrid catalyst properties, and CO2 photoreduction capabilities.

Tailoring Li‐ion Storage and Transport in Two‐Dimensional Conjugated Metal‐Organic Frameworks via Precise Nitrogen Incorporation

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Two nitrogen‐doped 2D conjugated metal‐organic frameworks (2D c‐MOFs, namely Cu‐Nx‐OHBA, x = 2 or 4) are synthesized, featuring precise nitrogen incorporation via rational ligand design. The Cu‐Nx‐OHBA 2D c‐MOFs are largely tailorable by varying skeletal nitrogen density, with respect to electrical conductivity, Li‐storage capacitance, and Li‐transport

Influence of various redox conditions on the degradation of microalgal triacylglycerols and fatty acids in marine sediments [PDF]

open access: yes, 2004
Sediment cakes, supplemented with microalgal cells (Nannochloropsis salina), were incubated for 35 days under permanently oxic, oscillating (5d:5d changeover oxic/anoxic) and strictly anoxic conditions of oxygenation in diffusively ‘‘open’’ sedimentary ...
