Stilbene‐based derivatives as potential inhibitors of trimethylamine (TMA)‐lyase affect gut microbiota in coronary heart disease

open access: yesFood Science &Nutrition, Volume 11, Issue 1, Page 93-100, January 2023., 2023
Docking results showed Resveratroloside had the highest Vina score, indicating that it was the most active and might be employed as a lead molecule for further structural modification. The possible action process of TMA‐Lyase lead compound was described, which further affects the occurrence and development of CHD.

Oxidative stress causes enhanced endothelial cell injury in human heme oxygenase-1 deficiency.

open access: yesJournal of Clinical Investigation, 1999
The first known human case of heme oxygenase-1 (HO-1) deficiency is presented in this report. The patient is a six-year-old boy with severe growth retardation.

Punica granatum peel supplementation attenuates cognitive deficits and brain injury in rat by targeting the Nrf2‐HO‐1 pathway

open access: yesFood Science &Nutrition, Volume 11, Issue 1, Page 168-180, January 2023., 2023
The hydro‐ethanolic extract of P. granatum peel was standardized. ;The extract increased superoxide dismutase activity and thiol content, while reduced function of AchE and peroxidation of lipid in the scopolamine‐injured rat’s brain. ;P. granatum may attenuate scopolamine injury through targeting nuclear factor‐E2‐related factor 2 pathway ; Abstract ...

Hemin as a protective agent in an in vitro model of hypoxia/reoxygenation-induced injury

open access: yesSAGE Open Medicine
Objective: Ischemia-reperfusion injury exacerbates myocardial damage and affects the prognosis of patients with ST-elevation myocardial infarction. This study investigates the potential cytoprotective effects of hemin in an in vitro cardiomyocyte model ...

Metformin alleviates spinal cord injury by inhibiting nerve cell ferroptosis through upregulation of heme oxygenase-1 expression

open access: yesNeural Regeneration Research
[INLINE:1] Previous studies have reported upregulation of heme oxygenase-1 in different central nervous system injury models. Heme oxygenase-1 plays a critical anti-inflammatory role and is essential for regulating cellular redox homeostasis.

A Lactobacillus rhamnosus strain induces a heme oxygenase dependent increase in Foxp3+ regulatory T cells. [PDF]

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2012
We investigated the consequences of feeding with a Lactobacillus species on the immune environment in GALT, and the role of dendritic cells and heme oxygenase-1 in mediating these responses.

Reduced stress defense in heme oxygenase 1-deficient cells.

open access: yesProceedings of the National Academy of Sciences of the United States of America, 1997
Stressed mammalian cells up-regulate heme oxygenase 1 (Hmox1; EC 1.14.99.3), which catabolizes heme to biliverdin, carbon monoxide, and free iron. To assess the potential role of Hmox1 in cellular antioxidant defense, we analyzed the responses of cells ...

Linalool attenuated ischemic injury in PC12 cells through inhibition of caspase‐3 and caspase‐9 during apoptosis

open access: yesFood Science &Nutrition, Volume 11, Issue 1, Page 249-260, January 2023., 2023
This study indicated, for the first time, that (±) linalool and its enantiomer, (R)‐(‐) linalool protected PC12 cells against injury induced by oxygen and glucose deprivation/reoxygenation (OGD/R) via the mitigation of oxidative stress and the downregulation of Bax/Bcl‐2, caspase‐3 and caspase‐9, resulting in decreased apoptotic cell death.

Studies on the specificity of unprocessed and mature forms of phytanoyl-CoA 2-hydroxylase and mutation of the iron binding ligands

open access: yesJournal of Lipid Research, 2005
The mature form of phytanoyl-coenzyme A 2-hydroxylase (PAHX), a nonheme Fe(II)- and 2-oxoglutarate-dependent oxygenase, catalyzes the α-hydroxylation of phytanoyl-CoA within peroxisomes.
