Microglial Membranes Wrapped Ultrasmall Medium‐Entropy Ru Single‐Atom Nanozyme: Enhanced Catalysis for Accelerating Inflammation/Redox Microenvironment Regulation in Intracerebral Hemorrhage

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
PtRhIr/Ru SAN@M nanozymes cross the blood–brain barrier and selectively accumulate in hemorrhagic brain regions. By mimicking multiple enzyme activities, they attenuate oxidative stress, modulate microglial polarization toward an anti‐inflammatory phenotype, inhibit ferroptosis, and promote neuronal repair.

Human Mesenchymal Stem Cells Elevate CD4+CD25+CD127low/- Regulatory T Cells of Asthmatic Patients via Heme Oxygenase-1

open access: yesIranian Journal of Allergy, Asthma and Immunology, 2013
Up-regulation of CD4+CD25+CD127low/- regulatory T cells (Tregs) is a new target in the treatment of asthma. Human bone marrow mesenchymal stem cells can up-regulate CD4+CD25+CD127low/- regulatory T cells in vitro,  meanwhile, heme oxygenase-1 (HO-1 ...

Differential Expression of the Demosponge (Suberites domuncula) Carotenoid Oxygenases in Response to Light: Protection Mechanism Against the Self-Produced Toxic Protein (Suberitine)

open access: yesMarine Drugs, 2012
The demosponge Suberites domuncula has been described to contain high levels of a proteinaceous toxin, Suberitine, that displays haemolytic activityIn the present study this 7–8 kDa polypeptide has been isolated and was shown to exhibit also cytotoxic ...

Strontium Ranelate Elevates Expression of Heme Oxygenase-1 and Decreases Alveolar Bone Loss in Rats

open access: yeseJournal of Oral Maxillofacial Research, 2018
Objectives: The purpose of this study was to determine the effects of strontium ranelate on ligature-induced periodontitis in rats and assess the putative involvement of heme oxygenase-1 (HO-1) pathway in these effects.

Overexpression of mitofusin 2 ameliorates inflammation and oxidative stress in lipopolysaccharide‐induced mastitis model by regulating phosphofurin acidic cluster sorting protein 2

open access: yesAnimal Models and Experimental Medicine, EarlyView.
The interaction between mitofusin 2 (MFN2) and phosphofurin acidic cluster sorting protein 2 regulates the formation of mitochondria‐associated endoplasmic reticulum membranes (MAM). Overexpression of MFN2 can promote the formation of MAMs and inhibit inflammation and oxidative stress response in mammary epithelial cells.

Heme oxygenase 1 overexpression increases iron fluxes in Caco-2 cells

open access: yesBiological Research, 2006
Heme oxygenase-1 is a microsomal enzyme that, when induced by stress, protects the cells from oxidative injury. Heme oxygenase-1 participates in the cleavage of the heme ring producing biliverdin, CO and ferrous Fe.

Cytoprotective role of heme oxygenase-1 upregulation in progressive renal disease [PDF]

open access: yesEinstein (São Paulo), 2009
Objective: This study evaluated the ability of heme oxygenase-1 to prevent or reverse renal fibrosis. Methods: Sprague-dawley male rats were submitted to unilateral ureteral obstruction and divided into groups: non-treated and hemin.

Topographical Variation of Iron‐Rimmed Lesions in the Multiple Sclerosis Brain and Spinal Cord: A Neuropathological Study

open access: yesAnnals of Neurology, EarlyView.
Paramagnetic‐rim lesions are a novel diagnostic marker in multiple sclerosis (MS) and are associated with poor prognosis due to their link with chronic inflammation and disease progression. Analyzing 46 postmortem MS cases, researchers found no iron rims in 67 white matter and 85 grey matter spinal cord lesions, despite most being active.

A Model for the Catabolism of Rhizopine in Rhizobium leguminosarum Involves a Ferredoxin Oxygenase Complex and the Inositol Degradative Pathway

open access: yesMolecular Plant-Microbe Interactions, 1998
Rhizopines are nodule-specific compounds that confer an intraspecies competitive nodulation advantage to strains that can catabolize them. The rhizopine (3-O-methyl-scyllo-inosamine, 3-O-MSI) catabolic moc gene cluster mocCABRDE(F) in Rhizobium ...
