Development of inhibitory antibodies to therapeutic factor VIII in severe hemophilia A is associated with microsatellite polymorphisms in the HMOX1 promoter

open access: yesHaematologica, 2013
Induction of heme oxygenase-1, a stress-inducible enzyme with anti-inflammatory activity, reduces the immunogenicity of therapeutic factor VIII in experimental hemophilia A.

Xanthophylls Modulate Palmitoylation of Mammalian β-Carotene Oxygenase 2

open access: yesAntioxidants, 2021
An extensive body of work has documented the antioxidant role of xanthophylls (lutein and zeaxanthin) in human health and specifically how they provide photoprotection in human vision.

Feruloyl oligosaccharides, isolated from bacterial fermented wheat bran, exhibit antioxidant effects in IPEC‐J2 cells and zebrafish model

open access: yesFood Science &Nutrition, Volume 11, Issue 1, Page 295-306, January 2023., 2023
An excess of reactive oxygen species (ROS) can cause cell damage, and an accumulation of damage leads to cellular dysfunction resulting in a variety of diseases including abnormal aging, cancer, diabetes, and inflammation. In this study, feruloyl oligosaccharides (FOs) were obtained by solid‐state fermentation using wheat bran, and antioxidant activity

Assays for the Detection of Rubber Oxygenase Activities

open access: yesBio-Protocol, 2017
Microbial biodegradation of rubber relies on extracellular rubber oxygenases that catalyze the oxidative cleavage of the double bond of the polyisoprene backbone into oligo-isoprenoids.

Heme oxygenase is the major 32-kDa stress protein induced in human skin fibroblasts by UVA radiation, hydrogen peroxide, and sodium arsenite.

open access: yesProceedings of the National Academy of Sciences of the United States of America, 1989
We have shown that UVA (320-380 nm) radiation, hydrogen peroxide, and sodium arsenite induce a stress protein of approximately 32 kDa in human skin fibroblasts.

Danshensu attenuated lipopolysaccharide‐induced LX‐2 and T6 cells activation through regulation of ferroptosis

open access: yesFood Science &Nutrition, Volume 11, Issue 1, Page 344-349, January 2023., 2023
Danshensu (Dan) attenuates lipopolysaccharide‐induced hepatic stellate cells activation via decreasing expression of collagen І, connective tissue growth factor, glutathione peroxidase 4, cystine/glutamate antiporter xCT, and lipocalin‐2. However, Dan increases lipid reactive oxygen species accumulation.

HEME OXYGENASE: ENZYME WITH FUNCTIONAL DIVERSITY [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Stress Physiology & Biochemistry, 2011
In recent years role of Heme oxygenase (HO) has been considered in nearly all living system including plants, animals and other organisms. The common role of heme oxygenase is the degradation of heme, although there is a diversity of additional role of ...

Carbon monoxide: from toxin to endogenous modulator of cardiovascular functions

open access: yesBrazilian Journal of Medical and Biological Research, 1999
Carbon monoxide (CO) is a pollutant commonly recognized for its toxicological attributes, including CNS and cardiovascular effects. But CO is also formed endogenously in mammalian tissues. Endogenously formed CO normally arises from heme degradation in a

The inhibitory effect of Yam polysaccharides on acrylamide‐induced programmed cell death in RAW 264.7 cells

open access: yesFood Science &Nutrition, Volume 11, Issue 1, Page 443-457, January 2023., 2023
Acrylamide triggered macrophage cell apoptosis and autophagy and pyroptosis. ;P2X7 was of great significance in acrylamide‐induced cell death, but was mainly responsible for the regulation of autophagy and pyroptosis. Acrylamide stimulated oxidative stress via P2X7 in macrophage cells.
