Haematococcus lacustris Carotenogensis: A Historical Event of Primary to Secondary Adaptations to Earth’s Oxygenation

open access: yesLife
(1) Background: Oxygen has exerted a great effect in shaping the environment and driving biological diversity in Earth’s history. Green lineage has evolved primary and secondary carotenoid biosynthetic systems to adapt to Earth’s oxygenation, e.g ...

An in-situ FTIR-LCR meter technique to study the sensing mechanism of MnO2@ZIF-8/CNPs and a direct relationship between the sensitivity of the sensors and the rate of surface reaction

open access: yesResults in Physics, 2023
Diethylamine vapor is harmful to people if inhaled or swallowed, as it results in the oxidation of hemoglobin in the body into unwanted methemoglobin, which is unable to transport oxygen in the blood, resulting in reduced blood oxygenation. Lack of blood

Electrospun Wood‐Derived Biopolymers as Electrodes in Electrochemical Energy Storage Technologies

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Electrospinning transforms wood‐derived cellulose and lignin into architecturally defined, binder‐free carbon electrodes with tuneable porosity and functionality. This review shows how fibre design enables decoupled charge and mass transport, enhancing performance across battery systems, while identifying key challenges in spinnability, scalability ...

The mechanism of the oxygen electrode [PDF]

open access: yesProceedings of the Royal Society of London. Series A, Containing Papers of a Mathematical and Physical Character, 1933
Abstract It is well known that the so-called "oxygen electrode" does not behave in a thermodynamically reversible manner. The decomposition voltage of water has been calculated thermodynamically from various calorimetric and solubility data by Lewis, Nernst and von Wartenberg, Brönsted and Lewis and Randall.

Nanoscale Spatial Tuning of Superconductivity in Cuprate Thin Films via Direct Laser Writing

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Maskless direct laser writing enables local control of oxygen stoichiometry in epitaxial YBCO thin films under ambient conditions. Sub‐micrometer grayscale patterns with tunable optical response and superconducting transport properties are achieved.

Apneic oxygenation in pediatric anesthesia. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2022
PURPOSE OF REVIEW Apneic oxygenation is increasingly used in pediatric anesthesia. Its benefit for specific applications depends on the effect of apneic oxygenation on safe apnea time and carbon dioxide (CO2) elimination, on differences between low ...

Functionalizing Micro‐to‐Mesoscopic Electrode Architectures for Regulating Electron Transfer Behaviors in Electrocatalysis

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A systematic review is conducted to assess the influence of electrode architecture across micro‐ to mesoscopic length scales on electron‐transfer pathways in electrocatalysis. We discuss the structure‐activity relationships in electrocatalytic applications, including resource recovery and environmental remediation, and provide cost‐effective, efficient

Acute supramaximal exercise increases the brain oxygenation in relation to cognitive workload

open access: yesFrontiers in Human Neuroscience, 2016
Single bout of exercise can improve the performance on cognitive tasks. However, cognitive responses may be controversial due to different type, intensity, and duration of exercise.
