Therapeutic potential of anticoagulant therapy in association with cytokine storm inhibition in severe cases of COVID-19: A case report

open access: yesOpen Life Sciences, 2021
Inflammation and coagulation are considered to the development of Coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19)-related hypoxemia. However, this is still controversial, which brings challenges to clinical treatment.

An Integrated Oxygen‐Supplying Device and Predictive Multiphysics Model for Extended Ambient Transport of Insulin‐Producing Cells

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Cell therapies typically rely on cold‐chain logistics and cryopreservation, limiting access and compromising cell quality. Here, a dual‐chamber device separates an oxygen‐supplying chamber from a hyaluronic acid cargo chamber, sustaining oxygen delivery for over 70 h and enabling ambient‐temperature shipment.

Remote ischemic postconditioning increased cerebral blood flow and oxygenation assessed by magnetic resonance imaging in newborn piglets after hypoxia-ischemia

open access: yesFrontiers in Pediatrics, 2022
BackgroundWe have previously investigated neurological outcomes following remote ischemic postconditioning (RIPC) in a newborn piglet model of hypoxic-ischemic encephalopathy.

An Epigenetic Fate Converter Based on Nuclei‐Targeting Lipid Nanoparticles Drives Neuronal Programming of Stem Cells for Spinal Cord Repair

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Schematic illustration of LNP‐MPG nuclei‐targeting delivery of HMW‐FGF2 promoting histone acetylation to regulate the fate of DPSCs and treat spinal cord injury. LNPs components include pHMW‐FGF2 plasmid, DSPC, Dlin‐MC3‐DMA, cholesterol, and PEG2000, and are modified with MPG to form HMW‐FGF2@LNP‐MPG (HLM). HLM nuclei‐targets DPSCs to deliver HMW‐FGF2,

Mechanisms of oxygen evolution

open access: yes, 1976
The production of O/sub 2/ from water requires the collaboration of four oxidizing equivalents. When dark-adapted O/sub 2/ evolving photosynthetic material is illuminated by a sequence of short (less than 2 ..mu..sec) saturating flashes, the amount of O/sub 2/ evolved per flash oscillates with a period of four.

Decoupling the Size and Loading Effects in Silver Nanoparticles for Efficient Paired Carbon Dioxide and Formaldehyde Electrolysis

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
We investigate size‐dependent CO selectivity on Ag nanoparticles, where optimized Ag loading achieves nearly 100% Faradaic Efficiency for CO at −100 mA·cm−2. In situ SERS and XPS reveal the crucial role of optimized loading in catalytic performance. The Ag/C catalyst further exhibits bifunctional activity, enabling efficient electrolysis of CO2 and ...

Synthesis and Photo-oxygenation of Some Substituted 1-Benzyl-3,4-dihydroisoquinolines. Mechanism of Enamine Photo-oxygenation

open access: yes, 1982
The synthesis of a series of substituted 1-benzyl-3,4-dihydroisoquinolines by Bischler-Napieralski cyclization is described. Competitive methylene blue sensitized photo-oxygenation experiments allowed the determination of relative rates of photo ...

Rare‐Earth–Functionalized Carbon Dot Hydrogels as Mechanically Robust Antibacterial Wound Dressings

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
The schematic depicts a dynamically cross‐linked PVA hydrogel network in which reversible borate ester bonds and hydrogen‐bonding interactions integrate lanthanum‐doped carbon dots (La‐CDs) and dipotassium glycyrrhizinate (DPG) to form a mechanically robust, multifunctional matrix.

De-oxygenation of CO2 by using Hydrogen, Carbon and Methane over Alumina-Supported Catalysts [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
The de-oxygenation of CO2 was explored by using hydrogen, methane, carbon etc., over alumina supported catalysts. The alumina-supported ruthenium, rhodium, platinum, molybdenum, vanadium and magnesium catalysts were first reduced in hydrogen atmosphere ...

Making the Case for Organ‐on‐Chip Platforms in Long‐Acting Therapeutics Development

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
LATs release drug from a tissue‐resident depot over weeks to months, improving adherence, but their development is hampered by preclinical models that cannot reproduce the coupled tissue processes, sustained release, local microenvironment change, interstitial transport, immune and foreign‐body responses, and clearance that govern depot performance in ...
