Abstract We reconsider one of the most widely studied behavioral biases: anchoring effects. We estimate that study designs in this literature, including replication studies, routinely fail to achieve statistical power of more than 30%. This study replicates an anchoring study that reported an effect size of a 31% increase in participants' bids.

Understanding How Disease and Environment Combine to Structure Resistance in Estuarine Bivalve Populations [PDF]
Delaware Bay oyster (Crassostrea virginica) populations are influenced by two lethal parasites that cause Dermo and MSX diseases. As part of the US National Science Foundation Ecology of Infectious Diseases initiative, a program developed for Delaware ...

ABSTRACT Derelict fishing gear can negatively affect marine ecosystems through mortality in coastal environments. This study explored the impact of derelict and active crab pots on recreational blue crab (Callinectes sapidus) catch rates and landings in a Mid‐Atlantic estuary by deploying experimental pots in four habitat strata within three sections ...

Abstract Seafood provides an essential source of macro‐ and micronutrients for coastal communities worldwide. Climate change is a key threat to seafood security, altering the sizes, abundances, distributions, physiology and ecological interactions of fisheries species, and increasingly, there is evidence of impacts to seafood nutritional quality.

ABSTRACT Disease outbreaks and the associated reliance on antibiotics pose major constraints to the sustainability of modern aquaculture. As regulatory pressures increase and consumer demand shifts toward residue‐free production, diverse biological interventions are gaining prominence as viable alternatives to chemotherapeutics.
