First attempt at using a synthetic diet in short‐lived killifish, a vertebrate model of ageing

open access: yesJournal of Fish Biology, EarlyView.
Abstract Diet standardization of model organisms is crucial for experimental consistency and repeatability in laboratory research, yet laboratory fish often lack species‐specific, open‐formula standardized diets. This study aims to address this gap by testing the effect of macronutrient content on the performance of Nothobranchius furzeri, an ...

Synthesis and Characterization of Some New Symmetrical Bis-Isatins Derived From p-Substituted Aromatic Amines [PDF]

open access: yesEurasian Journal of Science and Engineering, 2018
A series of p-substituted isonitrosoacetanilide 2(a-g) were prepared via the condensation of p-substitutedaromatic amines (benzene-1,4-diamine,o-tolidine,4,4’-diaminodiphenylmethane, p bromoaniline p-nitroaniline, p-aminobenzoic acid and p-toluidine ...

Early life stress and disruption of the ageing trajectory in female rats: Insights into the origins and mechanisms underlying the risk of hypertension

open access: yesExperimental Physiology, EarlyView.
Abstract Menopause increases the risk of hypertension in women, yet the factors contributing to this important change remain unclear. Because early life stress has persistent and sex‐specific consequences on health, we hypothesized that ageing reveals the latent effects of neonatal maternal separation (NMS) on cardiovascular homeostasis in female rats.

Metabolomics profiling reveals p-aminobenzoic acid enhances resistance to Fusarium head blight in wheat

open access: yesFood Production, Processing and Nutrition
Fusarium head blight (FHB) not only causes severe yield losses but also mycotoxin contamination in wheat, posing a serious threat to food security and public health.

Metabolomic Analysis of Phytophthora parasitica Growth in the Presence of β‐sitosterol Indicates Adaptive Mechanisms Modulated by Sterols [PDF]

open access: yesJ Basic Microbiol
ABSTRACT Phytophthora parasitica is a generalist phytopathogenic oomycete that infects a series of crops with great economic interest, including tomato, tobacco, and citrus species. Sterols are essential lipids in eukaryotic organisms, playing a fundamental role in the structure and function of the cell membrane.

MICROBIOLOGICAL ASSAYS FOR p-AMINOBENZOIC ACID

open access: yesJournal of Biological Chemistry, 1943
We have developed in this laboratory a microbiological assay for p-aminobenzoic acid, using a mutant strain of Neurospora crassa(1) very generously supplied to us by Dr. G.W. Beadle of Stanford University.

Synthesis of Calix[4]resorcinarene Based Dyes and its Application in Dyeing of Fibres

open access: yesE-Journal of Chemistry, 2008
Four new ʻupper rimʼ azocalix[4]resorcinarene have been synthesized by coupling calix[4]resorcinarene with different diazotized aromatic compounds of sulphanilic acid, anthranilic acid, o-aminophenol and p-aminobenzoic acid.

Comparison of Various Easy-to-Use Procedures for Extraction of Phenols from Apricot Fruits

open access: yesMolecules, 2011
Phenols are broadly distributed in the plant kingdom and are the most abundant secondary metabolites of plants. Plant polyphenols have drawn increasing attention due to their potential antioxidant properties and their marked effects in the prevention of ...

A critical role of heterotrophic bacteria in early diagenesis of carbonates through exopolymer degradation and calcium release

open access: yesThe Depositional Record, Volume 12, Issue 1, February 2026.
Exopolymeric substances (EPS) produced in the photic zone and surface sediments sequester calcium. Below the sediment surface, heterotrophic bacteria degrade EPS, releasing calcium resulting in carbonate precipitation. This process, which continues for millennia deep in the core, is an important sink for atmospheric carbon dioxide.

New Cocrystals of Ligustrazine: Enhancing Hygroscopicity and Stability

open access: yesMolecules
Ligustrazine (TMP) is the main active ingredient extracted from Rhizoma Chuanxiong, which is used in the treatment of cardiovascular and cerebrovascular diseases, with the drawback of being unstable and readily sublimated.
