Comparing self‐reported race and genetic ancestry for identifying potential differentially methylated sites in endometrial cancer: insights from African ancestry proportions using machine learning models

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Integrating ancestry, differential methylation analysis, and machine learning, we identified robust epigenetic signature genes (ESGs) and Core‐ESGs in Black and White women with endometrial cancer. Core‐ESGs (namely APOBEC1 and PLEKHG5) methylation levels were significantly associated with survival, with tumors from high African ancestry (THA) showing ...

A sagbi basis for the quantum Grassmannian

open access: yes, 1999
The maximal minors of a p by (m + p) matrix of univariate polynomials of degree n with indeterminate coefficients are themselves polynomials of degree np.

The New Hahn Sequence Space via $(p,q)$-Calculus

open access: yesCommunications in Advanced Mathematical Sciences
In this paper, a novel generalized Hahn sequence space, denoted as $h(C(p,q))$, is introduced by utilizing the $(p, q)$-Cesaro matrix. Fundamental properties of this sequence space, such as its completeness and inclusion relations with other well-known ...

The atypical KRASQ22K mutation directs TGF‐β response towards partial epithelial‐to‐mesenchymal transition in patient‐derived colorectal cancer tumoroids

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
TGF‐β has a complex role in cancer, exhibiting both tumor‐suppressive and tumor‐promoting properties. Using a series of differentiated tumoroids, derived from different stages and mutational background of colorectal cancer patients, we replicate this duality of TGF‐β in vitro. Notably, the atypical but highly aggressive KRASQ22K mutation rendered early‐

Tracy--Widom limit for the largest eigenvalue of a large class of complex sample covariance matrices

open access: yes, 2007
We consider the asymptotic fluctuation behavior of the largest eigenvalue of certain sample covariance matrices in the asymptotic regime where both dimensions of the corresponding data matrix go to infinity.

Distribution of P2O5 between P-rich Phase and Matrix Phase in P-bearing Steelmaking Slag

open access: yesHigh Temperature Materials and Processes, 2018
To recycle the phosphorus in P-bearing steelmaking slag and use the slag as phosphate fertilizer, it is necessary to study the distribution of P2O5 between the P-rich phase and matrix phase in P-bearing steelmaking slag.

Matrix Manipulations for Properties of Pell p-Numbers and their Generalizations

open access: yesAnalele Stiintifice ale Universitatii Ovidius Constanta: Seria Matematica, 2020
In this paper, we define the Pell-Pell p-sequence and then we discuss the connection of the Pell-Pell p-sequence with Pell and Pell p-sequences. Also, we provide a new Binet formula and a new combinatorial representation of the Pell-Pell p-numbers by the

A large‐scale retrospective study in metastatic breast cancer patients using circulating tumour DNA and machine learning to predict treatment outcome and progression‐free survival

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
There is an unmet need in metastatic breast cancer patients to monitor therapy response in real time. In this study, we show how a noninvasive and affordable strategy based on sequencing of plasma samples with longitudinal tracking of tumour fraction paired with a statistical model provides valuable information on treatment response in advance of the ...

Escape from TGF‐β‐induced senescence promotes aggressive hallmarks in epithelial hepatocellular carcinoma cells

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Chronic TGF‐β exposure drives epithelial HCC cells from a senescent state to a TGF‐β resistant mesenchymal phenotype. This transition is characterized by the loss of Smad3‐mediated signaling, escape from senescence, enhanced invasiveness and metastatic potential, and upregulation of key resistance modulators such as MARK1 and GRM8, ultimately promoting

ShcD adaptor protein drives invasion of triple negative breast cancer cells by aberrant activation of EGFR signaling

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
We identified adaptor protein ShcD as upregulated in triple‐negative breast cancer and found its expression to be correlated with reduced patient survival and increased invasion in cell models. Using a proteomic screen, we identified novel ShcD binding partners involved in EGFR signaling pathways.
