Selective interference with P protein binding to paramyxovirus nucleocapsids

Virus Research, 1994
We previously observed that some anti-nucleoprotein monoclonal antibodies were able to displace P protein from Sendai virus (SV) nucleocapsid cores. The current work extends that observation by showing that such antibody-mediated P displacement is not unique to Sendai virus nucleocapsids, but can also occur with nucleocapsids of a related human ...

P-Protein in sieve elements

Planta, 1973
The ultrastructure of P1 and P2 proteins in the sieve elements of Heracleum mantegazzianum is described. P1-protein tubules are closely associated with stacks of membranes, are often linked by short cross-bridges, and occasionally display a hexagonal packing.

Autoantibodies to ribosomal P proteins in systemic lupus erythematosus

Joint Bone Spine, 2002
Autoantibodies to ribosomal P proteins (anti-P) are directed against three ribosomal phosphoproteins (P0, P1, and P2) and are believed to be specific markers for systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE), particularly with neuropsychiatric manifestations. The objective of this study was to determine the rate of occurrence and clinical significance of anti-P ...

The distribution of P-Protein in mature sieve elements of celery

Planta, 1975
The extent of blocking of sieve-plate pores caused by release of cell turgor was investigated by fixing and processing for electron microscopy a long length of celery (Apium graveolens L.) phloem. Differences in distribution of P-protein within the pores were observed between those cells near the two cut ends, and the central cells. To assess the effect

Synthesis of P-protein in mature phloem of Cucurbita maxima

Planta, 1976
Cotyledons of Cucurbita maxima Duch. seedlings were provided with (14)C-labeled amino acids for 12 h. Besides the bulk of labeled amino acids the sieve-tube exudate also carried labeled proteins. 80% of the incorporated radioactivity was found in the P-protein, 20% in a neutral protein, and traces were found in acidic proteins after fractionation on ...

Evaluation of Assays for the Detection of Autoantibodies to the Ribosomal P Proteins

Clinical Immunology, 2000
Sera from systemic lupus erythematosus patients that had antibodies to the ribosomal P proteins were compared in several different assays. The enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) method was compared to the Western immunoblotting method using either affinity purified human or bovine ribosomal P proteins.

P protein and microtubular systems in Nicotiana, callus phloem

Planta, 1969
A study of the ultrastructure of cultured tobacco callus phloem shows that it is very similar to that found in the intact stem.Fibrils similar to the P protein, characteristic of angiosperm phloem, are found initially within the rough endoplasmic reticulum.

Autoantibodies to the ribosomal P proteins in systemic lupus erythematosus

Clinical and Experimental Medicine, 2006
This paper describes the clinical significance of antibodies to the ribosomal P proteins in systemic lupus erythematosus. It appears that liver disease due to the lupus process and not attributable to viral infection, alcohol or drugs is associated with anti-ribosomal P.

P-Protein Trafficking Through Plasmodesmata

1999
Phloem tissue in flowering plants has a distinctive cellular composition in which the conducting elements are a complex of two unique cell types, sieve elements (SE) and companion cells (CC), that are developmentally related and functionally dependent upon one another.

Observations on P-Protein in Dicotyledons. Substructural and Developmental Features

American Journal of Botany, 1982
The structure and development of P‐protein have been studied in sieve elements of hypocotyl tissue of Ecballium elaterium and Cicer arietinum, and in P‐protein‐producing cells of root apices of Polygonum fagopyrum. Ultrastructural investigations have led us to propose a model for the structure of P‐protein tubules.
