ABSTRACT Killer cell immunoglobulin‐like receptors (KIR) and their cognate HLA ligands regulate the functions of natural killer (NK) cells. However, extensive sequence homology within the KIR family limits the ability of monoclonal antibodies to selectively recognise individual receptors, and no KIR2DS1‐specific reagent is available to date.

Detection of Molecular Markers of Antimalarial Drug Resistance in Plasmodium Falciparum from South-Western Nigeria [PDF]
The widespread of drug resistant Plasmodium falciparum has led to a rise in malaria- associated mortality most especially in sub-Saharan Africa. Falciparum malaria was confirmed by microscopic examination of Giemsa-stained blood samples of patients who ...

Trypanosoma brucei gambiense in domestic livestock of Kogo and Mbini foci (Equatorial Guinea).
OBJECTIVE: To evaluate Trypanosoma brucei gambiense infection in peri-domestic livestock from Kogo and Mbini foci (Equatorial Guinea) in order to investigate its possible implication in the sleeping sickness transmission cycle in these hypoendemic foci ...

P. falciparum malaria recrudescence in a cancer patient.
Persons living for long periods of time in malaria hyper-endemic areas may suffer from hyper-reactive malarial splenomegaly (HMS), a frequent cause of splenomegaly in such areas. Splenomegaly and sub-microscopic P. falciparum parasitaemia are hallmarks of HMS.

Synthesis, antimalarial activity, and in silico study of pyridine-based N-phenylpyrazoline
Resistance to chloroquine has driven the search for antimalarial agents targeting non–heme-based metabolic pathways. In this study, a series of pyridine-containing N-phenylpyrazoline derivatives (NP1–NP7) were rationally designed as potential inhibitors ...

BackgroundRapid diagnostic tests (RDTs) are crucial for malaria diagnosis. Where Plasmodium falciparum and Plasmodium vivax are co-endemic, and where P. falciparum hrp2/3 deletions are frequent, RDTs need to detect either species, and P. falciparum using
