Validation of Health Belief Model and Theory of Planned Behaviour Constructs for Predicting Malaria Vaccine Acceptance in Ghana: A Partial Least Squares Structural Equation Modelling Approach

open access: yesTropical Medicine &International Health, Volume 31, Issue 10, Page 1443-1452, October 2026.
ABSTRACT Aim This study examines the predictive power of constructs from the health belief model (HBM) and theory of planned behaviour (TPB) in explaining malaria vaccine acceptance in Ghana in the post‐COVID‐19 era, while also assessing the reliability of these constructs within this context.

Vectors and Vector‐Borne Diseases: Biology, Epidemiology and Integrated Control Strategies

open access: yesJournal of Applied Entomology, Volume 150, Issue 7, Page 990-1015, August 2026.
ABSTRACT Vector‐Borne Diseases (VBDs), transmitted by arthropods such as mosquitoes, ticks, fleas and sandflies, represent a significant threat to global health. These diseases can be caused by a variety of pathogens, including bacteria, viruses, protozoa, and helminths.

Hit‐To‐Lead Optimization of a Pyridylpiperazine Class Against Malaria: Pharmacokinetic Profile and In Vivo Efficacy of Optimized Compounds

open access: yesChemMedChem, Volume 21, Issue 13, 14 July 2026.
Chemical optimization of a novel pyridylpiperazine class yields two promising antimalarial candidates with an exceptional balance of metabolic stability and solubility. These optimized leads significantly protect mice from cerebral malaria, reducing parasitic load by up to 91.7%.

Differential ex vivo susceptibility of Plasmodium malariae and Plasmodium falciparum clinical isolates from Ghana and Mali to current and lead discovery candidate antimalarial drugs

open access: yesMicrobiology Spectrum
Non-falciparum species causing malaria in humans are considered neglected in the fight toward malaria elimination. Recent data highlight the increasing contribution of Plasmodium malariae to malaria morbidity and mortality.

A case of Plasmodium malariae recurrence: recrudescence or reinfection?

open access: yesMalaria Journal, 2019
Background Plasmodium malariae is the most neglected of the six human malaria species and it is still unknown which is the mechanism underlying the long latency of this Plasmodium. Case presentation A case of PCR-confirmed P.

A Case of Plasmodium malariae in Bangladesh: A Representation of the Suboptimal Performance of Rapid Diagnostic Approaches in Malaria Elimination Settings

open access: yesPathogens, 2022
Plasmodium malariae is a neglected human malaria parasite with low parasitemia that often results in the misdiagnosis and underestimation of the actual disease burden of this pathogen.

Resurgence of Malaria in Protected and Rural Areas After Successful Control Program in a Brazilian Amazon Municipality

open access: yesGeoHealth, Volume 10, Issue 7, July 2026.
Abstract Malaria eradication requires reducing transmission in endemic areas and maintaining these reductions in areas where elimination has been achieved. In Altamira, a municipality in the Xingu Basin of the Brazilian Amazon, a malaria control program was implemented during the construction of the Belo Monte Dam which eliminated local malaria cases ...
