Peptide p3 may play a neuroprotective role in the brain
Medical Hypotheses, 2011Alzheimer's disease (AD) is an age-related neurodegenerative disease. The amyloid-β (Aβ) peptide is considered a major etiological factor in the development of AD. BACE1-deficient mice and forebrain-specific conditional presenilin1 and presenilin2 double knockout mice (presenilins cDKO mice) both lack Aβ, but exhibit completely different phenotypes ...

Structure-based design of P3 moieties in the peptide mimetic factor VIIa inhibitor
Biochemical and Biophysical Research Communications, 2005Selective factor VIIa-tissue factor complex (FVIIa/TF) inhibition is seen as a promising target for developing new anticoagulant drugs. Structure-based designs of the P3 moiety in the peptide mimetic factor VIIa inhibitor successfully lead to novel inhibitors with selectivity for FVIIa/TF and extrinsic coagulation the same as or even higher than those ...

Affinity Comparison of p3 and p8 Peptide Displaying Bacteriophages Using Surface Plasmon Resonance
Analytical Chemistry, 2013Ever increasing demands in sensitivity and specificity of biosensors have recently established a trend toward the use of multivalent bioreceptors. This trend has also been introduced in the field of bacteriophage affinity peptides, where the entire phage is used as a receptor rather than the individual peptides.

Substrate specificity of schistosome versus human legumain determined by P1–P3 peptide libraries
Molecular and Biochemical Parasitology, 2002Asparaginyl endopeptidases, or 'legumains' have been identified and characterized in plants, the blood fluke parasite Schistosoma, and mammals. The legumains are a novel family of cysteine proteases and display restricted specificity for peptide hydrolysis on the carboxyl side of asparagine residues.

Discovery of non-peptidic P2–P3 butanediamide renin inhibitors with high oral efficacy
Bioorganic & Medicinal Chemistry, 1999A new series of non-peptidic renin inhibitors having a 2-substituted butanediamide moiety at the P2 and P3 positions has been identified. The optimized inhibitors have IC50 values of 0.8 to 1.4 nM and 2.5 to 7.6 nM in plasma renin assays at pH 6.0 and 7.4, respectively.

The Metabolic Pathway Generating p3, an Aβ-Peptide Fragment, Is Probably Non-Amyloidogenic
Biochemical and Biophysical Research Communications, 1994The Alzheimer a beta amyloid precursor protein is metabolized by at least two secretory pathways. One generates the A beta peptide and the other a N-terminally truncated A beta fragment termed p3 that is considered non-amyloidogenic. However, direct evidence is missing. We have undertaken to synthesize and purify p3.

Abstract P3-10-09: Peptide-based molecular targeting of inflammatory breast cancer.
Cancer Research, 2012Abstract Inflammatory breast cancer (IBC) is a subtype of breast cancer that has a frequent association with metastatic disease and a poorer prognosis than comparative non-inflammatory breast cancers. While IBC is now considered a distinct subclass of breast cancer, the lack of molecular characterization, both at the genomic and ...
