Recurring low statistical robustness in orthopaedic surgery: A systematic review of 84 fragility index studies

open access: yesJournal of Experimental Orthopaedics
Purpose Increasing attention has been directed towards the fragility index (FI) and reverse fragility index (RFI) in orthopaedic surgery. The purpose of this study was to amalgamate the FI and RFI literature in orthopaedic surgery, and critically ...

Enteropathogenic E. coli shows delayed attachment and host response in human jejunum organoid‐derived monolayers compared to HeLa cells

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Enteropathogenic E. coli (EPEC) infects the human intestinal epithelium, resulting in severe illness and diarrhoea. In this study, we compared the infection of cancer‐derived cell lines with human organoid‐derived models of the small intestine. We observed a delayed in attachment, inflammation and cell death on primary cells, indicating that host ...

Concept of P-value

open access: yesJournal of Applied Hematology, 2014
P -value has been criticized because it is widely misunderstood and don′t tell the researchers what they want to know. Many clinical researches mistaken the conclusion of a significant P-value and may be exaggerate small and unimportant difference.

On branches of positive solutions for p-Laplacian problems at the extreme value of Nehari manifold method

open access: yes, 2017
This paper is concerned with variational continuation of branches of solutions for nonlinear boundary value problems, which involve the p-Laplacian, the indefinite nonlinearity, and depend on the real parameter $\lambda$.

Reciprocal control of viral infection and phosphoinositide dynamics

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Phosphoinositides, although scarce, regulate key cellular processes, including membrane dynamics and signaling. Viruses exploit these lipids to support their entry, replication, assembly, and egress. The central role of phosphoinositides in infection highlights phosphoinositide metabolism as a promising antiviral target.

Second-Generation P-Values, Shrinkage, and Regularized Models

open access: yesFrontiers in Ecology and Evolution, 2019
Second-generation p-values (SGPVs) are a novel and intuitive extension of classical p-values that better summarize the degree to which data support scientific hypotheses.

Spatiotemporal and quantitative analyses of phosphoinositides – fluorescent probe—and mass spectrometry‐based approaches

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Fluorescent probes allow dynamic visualization of phosphoinositides in living cells (left), whereas mass spectrometry provides high‐sensitivity, isomer‐resolved quantitation (right). Their synergistic use captures complementary aspects of lipid signaling. This review illustrates how these approaches reveal the spatiotemporal regulation and quantitative

Confidence with confidence intervals

open access: yesIndian Journal of Ophthalmology, 1997
When considering the results of a study that reports one treatment to be better than another, what the practicing ophthalmologist really wants to know is the magnitude of the difference between treatment groups. If this difference is large enough, we may
