The effects of astakine on the hemocyte differentiation in Pacifastacus leniusculus

open access: yes
Crayfish use their native immune system to avoid infections. They produce new stem cells and blood cells (hemocytes) continuously throughout their lifetimes. The hemocytes are produced by stem cells in the hematopoietic tissue and released into the circulation.

Bioavailability and Toxicity of Aluminium to the Freshwater Crayfish, Pacifastacus leniusculus

open access: yes, 2012
Aluminium is the third most abundant element in the lithosphere and yet no biological function has been elucidated. The ubiquity and pH-dependent chemical speciation of aluminium provides multiple routes of exposure to organisms, inducing neurotoxicity, tissue necrosis and organelle dysfunction.

Environmental cues during overland dispersal by three freshwater invaders: Eriocheir sinensis, Pacifastacus leniusculus, and Procambarus clarkii (Crustacea, Decapoda)

open access: yes, 2015
Freshwater crustaceans are known to disperse overland, aiding the invasion of new environments. To analyze the effect of environmental variables (humidity, temperature, illuminance, vegetation, and slope) on the movement direction of Eriocheir sinensis ...

Indagine sanitaria in ambienti naturali del Nord Italia su gamberi d’acqua dolce alloctoni (Procambarus clarkii, Pacifastacus leniusculus). / Disease investigations on wild allochthonous freshwater crayfish (Procambarus clarkii, Pacifastacus leniusculus) in Northern Italy.

open access: yes, 2001
Nel 1999 sono state condotte ricerche, in gamberi alloctoni d’acqua dolce prelevati in ambienti naturali, sulla presenza di agenti patogeni trasmissibili alle specie autoctone.
