Prognosis of Long‐Term Continuous Renal Replacement Therapy and the Impact of Combined Continuous Intravenous Sodium Infusion Therapy

open access: yesTherapeutic Apheresis and Dialysis, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Introduction Patients requiring long‐term continuous renal replacement therapy (CRRT) generally have poor prognoses. This study evaluated whether adding continuous intravenous sodium infusion (cIVNa) is associated with improved hemodynamics and outcomes in patients undergoing long‐term CRRT for ≥ 7 days.

Warnings and packaging [PDF]

open access: yesTobacco Control, 2019
The current issue of Tobacco Control highlights recent developments in research related to tobacco packaging, including issues as diverse as health warnings, plain packaging, messaging and novel products. Since the implementation of the first pictorial cigarette warnings by Canada nearly two decades ago, to the first implementation of plain packaging ...

Technologies of Brand Development and Positioning

open access: yesВестник Российского экономического университета имени Г. В. Плеханова, 2021
Market economy develops very fast in current conditions, which fosters the growth in the number of goods and services of one product group. It helps avoid monopoly, but at the same time it makes customer choice more difficult as they get lost in the vast

Reciprocal control of viral infection and phosphoinositide dynamics

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Phosphoinositides, although scarce, regulate key cellular processes, including membrane dynamics and signaling. Viruses exploit these lipids to support their entry, replication, assembly, and egress. The central role of phosphoinositides in infection highlights phosphoinositide metabolism as a promising antiviral target.

A high-resolution electrostatically actuated MEMS Fabry–Pérot tunable filter for LWIR imaging and sensing applications

open access: yesMicrosystems & Nanoengineering
The long-wave infrared (LWIR) band lies near the peak of natural thermal emission, enabling stable passive imaging without active illumination, and it also covers characteristic spectral features of many important materials, making it a key spectral ...

Protein pyrophosphorylation by inositol pyrophosphates — detection, function, and regulation

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Protein pyrophosphorylation is an unusual signaling mechanism that was discovered two decades ago. It can be driven by inositol pyrophosphate messengers and influences various cellular processes. Herein, we summarize the research progress and challenges of this field, covering pathways found to be regulated by this posttranslational modification as ...

Structural instability impairs function of the UDP‐xylose synthase 1 Ile181Asn variant associated with short‐stature genetic syndrome in humans

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
The Ile181Asn variant of human UDP‐xylose synthase (hUXS1), associated with a short‐stature genetic syndrome, has previously been reported as inactive. Our findings demonstrate that Ile181Asn‐hUXS1 retains catalytic activity similar to the wild‐type but exhibits reduced stability, a looser oligomeric state, and an increased tendency to precipitate ...

The planar cell polarity protein Vangl2 interacts with the PDZ‐domains of Scribble but not with a unique PDZ‐like domain in Inturned

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Structural and biochemical characterisations show that the planar cell polarity (PCP) protein Inturned harbours a unique PDZ‐like domain that does not bind canonical PDZ‐binding motifs (PBMs) like that of another PCP protein Vangl2. In contrast, the apical‐basal polarity protein Scribble contains four PDZ domains that bind Vangl2, but one PDZ domain ...

Calpain small subunit homodimerization is robust and calcium‐independent

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Calpains dimerize via penta‐EF‐hand (PEF) domains. Using single‐molecule force spectroscopy, we measured the strength and kinetics of PEF–PEF homodimer binding. The interaction is robust, shows a transient conformational step before dissociation, and remains largely insensitive to Ca2+.

Application of Convolutional Neural Network to Predict Anisotropic Effective Thermal Conductivity of Semiconductor Package

open access: yesIEEE Access, 2022
With increasing complexity of design patterns in semiconductor package substrates caused by demand for high-power semiconductors, it is necessary to be able to predict the thermal properties according to the pattern. Classifying the patterns is important
