Transcriptome Analysis Reveals Pollination and Fertilization Mechanisms of Paeonia ostii ‘Fengdanbai’

open access: yesHorticulturae
Tree peony (Paeonia ostii) is widely cultivated in China as a traditional medicine and a new high-quality woody oil crop. Enhancing seed yield has become a primary breeding objective in the industrial development of oil tree peonies.

RNA Sequencing Analysis and Verification of Paeonia ostii ‘Fengdan’ CuZn Superoxide Dismutase (PoSOD) Genes in Root Development [PDF]

open access: yesPlants
Tree peony (Paeonia suffruticosa) is a significant medicinal plant. However, the low rooting number is a bottleneck problem in the micropropagation protocols of P. ostii ‘Fengdan’.

Effects of High Temperature Stress on the Physiological and Biochemical Characteristics of Paeonia ostii. [PDF]

open access: yesInt J Mol Sci, 2023
In order to explore the effects of high temperature stress on the physiological characteristics of Paeonia ostii, the Paeonia ostii were subjected to 25 °C, 35 °C, 38 °C, and 40 °C for 7 days. Meanwhile, the physiological indicators of oxidative stress (hydrogen peroxide, H2O2; malondialdehyde, MDA; relative electrical conductivity, REC), antioxidant ...

Cloning of PoAIL6 Gene Related to Somatic Embryogenesis in Paeonia ostii 'Fengdan'. [PDF]

open access: yesInt J Mol Sci
AINTEGUMENTA-LIKE6 (AIL6) is a transcription factor specifically expressed in embryos. It is a key to improving peony regeneration through tissue culture. Based on transcriptomic data from our previous research and the published genome data of Paeonia ostii, we identified the PoAIL6 gene associated with somatic embryogenesis (SE) in Paeonia ostii ...

Transcriptome Landscape Analyses of the Regulatory Network for Zygotic Embryo Development in Paeonia ostii. [PDF]

open access: yesInt J Mol Sci, 2023
Paeonia ostii is a worldwide ornamental flower and an emerging oil crop. Zyotic embryogenesis is a critical process during seed development, and it can provide a basis for improving the efficiency of somatic embryogenesis (SE). In this study, transcriptome sequencing of embryo development was performed to investigate gene expression profiling in P ...

Lipidomic profiling of the developing kernel clarifies the lipid metabolism of Paeonia ostii. [PDF]

open access: yesSci Rep, 2021
AbstractLipid components in the developing kernel of Paeonia ostii were determined, and the fatty acid (FA) distributions in triacylglycerol and phospholipids were characterized. The lipids in the kernel were mainly phospholipids (43%), neutral glycerides (24%), fatty acyls (26%), and sphingolipids (4.5%).

Integrated analysis of miRNAome transcriptome and degradome reveals miRNA-target modules governing floral florescence development and senescence across early- and late-flowering genotypes in tree peony

open access: yesFrontiers in Plant Science, 2022
As a candidate national flower of China, tree peony has extremely high ornamental, medicinal and oil value. However, the short florescence and rarity of early-flowering and late-flowering varieties restrict further improvement of the economic value of ...

Potential Antioxidant Activity of Novel Antioxidant Peptides from Protein Hydrolysate of Peony Seed Dreg in Chemical and H2O2‐Induced RAW264.7 Cells

open access: yesJournal of Food Biochemistry, Volume 2023, Issue 1, 2023., 2023
Peony seed dreg protein (PSDP) was hydrolyzed by proteases secreted by Pseudoalteromonas sp. CSN423. This hydrolysate exhibited excellent antioxidant capability after passing through a 3 kDa ultrafiltration membrane. The antioxidant peptides further purified by size‐exclusion chromatography scavenged 2, 2‐diphenyl‐1‐picrylhydrazyl (DPPH∙) (73.0 ± 1.46%)
