Ambidentate coordination in hydrogen bonded dimethyl sulfoxide, (CH3)2SOH3O+, and in dichlorobis(dimethyl sulfoxide) palladium(II) and platinum(II) solid solvates, by vibrational and sulfur K-edge X-ray absorption spectroscopy [PDF]
The strongly hydrogen bonded species (CH3)(2)SO center dot center dot center dot H3O+ formed in concentrated hydrochloric acid displays a new low energy feature in its sulfur K-edge X-ray absorption near edge structure (XANES) spectrum.

This study reveals how the mitochondrial protein Slm35 is regulated in Saccharomyces cerevisiae. The authors identify stress‐responsive DNA elements and two upstream open reading frames (uORFs) in the 5′ untranslated region of SLM35. One uORF restricts translation, and its mutation increases Slm35 protein levels and mitophagy.

Efficiency analysis of primary healthcare facilities in Afghanistan
Background Afghanistan’s health system is unique in that primary healthcare is delivered by non-governmental organizations funded by multilateral or bilateral donors, not the government. Given the wide range of implementers providing the basic package of

ppm Pd-catalyzed, Cu-free Sonogashira couplings in water using commercially available catalyst precursors. [PDF]
A new catalyst that derives from commercially available precursors for copper-free, Pd-catalyzed Sonogashira reactions at the sustainable ppm level of precious metal palladium under mild aqueous micellar conditions has been developed.

Neutron Resonance Spectroscopy of 104Pd, 105Pd, and 110Pd
We have measured neutron resonances in the palladium isotopes 104, 105, and 110 for neutron energies from 1 to 2100 eV. Many new p-wave resonances have been observed. Their neutron widths and, in several cases, the radiative widths were measured.

In situ molecular organization and heterogeneity of the Legionella Dot/Icm T4SS
We present a nearly complete in situ model of the Legionella Dot/Icm type IV secretion system, revealing its central secretion channel and identifying new components. Using cryo‐electron tomography with AI‐based modeling, our work highlights the structure, variability, and mechanism of this complex nanomachine, advancing understanding of bacterial ...

Bulky-yet-flexible carbene ligands and their use in palladium cross-coupling [PDF]
In recent years, several classes of new N-heterocyclic carbene (NHC) ligands were developed around the concept of flexible steric bulk. The steric hindrance of these ligands brings stability to the active species, while ligand flexibility still allows ...
