Including Harvested Grain Biogenic CO2 to Address a Critical Flaw in Climate Accounting

open access: yesAustralian Journal of Agricultural and Resource Economics, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT The international climate accounting system excludes both the biogenic CO2 sequestered in harvested crops and the biogenic CO2 emissions that occur when grain is digested or burned as biofuel. Despite being described in the literature as a critical flaw in climate accounting all parties within the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate

Optimizing Carbon Sources in Biofloc Technology for Sustainable Aquaculture: A Meta‐Analytical Review

open access: yesAquaculture, Fish and Fisheries, Volume 6, Issue 3, June 2026.
ABSTRACT Aquaculture intensification is increasingly constrained by high water demand, nutrient‐rich effluents and disease risk, increasing interest in biofloc technology (BFT) as a waste‐recycling, low‐exchange production model. However, BFT performance depends strongly on the carbon source used to adjust the carbon‐to‐nitrogen (C/N) ratio and ...

Performance Evaluation of Palm Oil-Based Biodiesel Combustion in an Oil Burner [PDF]

open access: yesEnergies, 2016
This paper presents an experimental investigation of the combustion characteristics of palm methyl ester (PME), also known as palm oil-based biodiesel, in an oil burner system. The performance of conventional diesel fuel (CDF) and various percentages of diesel blended with palm oil-based biodiesel is also studied to evaluate their performance.

Governing Within the Constraints of Carbon Budgets: Regional Insights From Sweden

open access: yesEnvironmental Policy and Governance, Volume 36, Issue 3, Page 701-714, June 2026.
ABSTRACT Staying within the limits of a rapidly shrinking global carbon budget while avoiding dependency on negative emissions technologies and carbon dioxide removal remains a significant challenge in a multi‐level governance system, where resources and responsibilities are dispersed among different actors.

Biodiesel Production From Canola Oil by Titanium Dioxide‐Photocatalysed Transesterification

open access: yesGCB Bioenergy, Volume 18, Issue 6, June 2026.
Photocatalytic transesterification of canola oil over TiO2 under UVA irradiation enables biodiesel production under mild conditions. Yields up to 73% FAME and 38% FAEE were achieved, with negative Gibbs free energy (ΔG < 0) confirming thermodynamic favourability.
