Integrated and closed‐loop biorefinery strategies for efficient waste valorization and biofuel production

open access: yesThe Canadian Journal of Chemical Engineering, Volume 104, Issue 4, Page 1656-1676, April 2026.
Abstract Advancements in biofuel production technologies are essential for reducing global dependence on fossil fuels and addressing their overexploitation. Many valuable components of biomass, such as cellulose, hemicellulose, and lignin, remain underused in traditional biorefineries, which typically rely on a single feedstock to produce a primary ...

Potential biodiesel production from palm oil, coconut oil and soybean oil for Thailand [PDF]

open access: yesMATEC Web of Conferences, 2018
The government began subsidizing the use of B20 in large trucks on a voluntary basis beginning in 2016 and intends to implement the B10 requirement in 2018 for all diesel sales. However, policy makers in both the MOE and the Ministry of Agriculture and Cooperatives (MOAC) recently agreed that the mandatory biodiesel consumption plan for 2036 may be ...

Hybridization of Homogeneous and Heterogeneous Catalysis to Develop a Novel Biocatalyst via Immobilization of Lipase on Surface Modified Mesoporous Silica Towards Biodiesel Synthesis Application

open access: yesAdvanced Energy and Sustainability Research, Volume 7, Issue 3, March 2026.
The 3‐(methacryloyloxy)propyltrimethoxysilane surface functionalized SBA‐15 (MP‐SBA‐15) is used for the first time as a lipase carrier. The immobilized CAL‐B exhibits high thermal stability and superior catalytic activity. CAL‐B/SBA‐15 suggests that optimum hydrophobicity gives better catalytic activity.

Integrated bioconversion of starchy and hemicellulosic fractions of macauba oil presscake into ethanol by nonconventional yeasts

open access: yesBiofuels, Bioproducts and Biorefining, Volume 20, Issue 2, Page 779-792, March/April 2026.
Abstract Co‐fermentation of hexoses and pentoses from plant biomass to ethanol is a strategy to increase ethanol production from lignocellulosic materials and add value to residues from agroindustrial chains. The macauba (Acrocomia aculeata) is an oleaginous palm‐tree species considered to contribute to development in some regions of Brazil.
