Self-assembly modulation in ionic PAMAM derivatives

open access: yesSoft Matter, 2014
The self-assembly behaviour both in the bulk and water of a series of amphiphilic dendrimers constituted by second generation PAMAM ionically functionalized with different amounts of myristic acid is shown here. The number of acids in the dendrimer determines the liquid-crystal properties and the structural parameters of their supramolecular ...

Counterion Condensation and Effective Charge of PAMAM Dendrimers [PDF]

open access: yesPolymers, 2011
PAMAM dendrimers are used as a model system to investigate the effects of counterion condensation and the effective charge for spherical polyelectrolytes. Because of their amino groups, PAMAM dendrimers are weak polyelectrolytes. Lowering the pH results in an increasing protonation of the amino groups which is monitored via the proton chemical shifts ...

Modular Synthesis of Dendritic Oligo‐Glycerol Cationic Surfactants for Enhanced Antibacterial Efficacy

open access: yesAngewandte Chemie International Edition, EarlyView.
An orthogonal click chemistry approach was used to synthesize a series of cationic surfactants. The results show that an optimal balance between positive charges and hydrophobicity is a crucial factor for the improvement of antibacterial properties.

Dendronized Mesoporous Silica Nanoparticles Provide an Internal Endosomal Escape Mechanism for Successful Cytosolic Drug Release [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2015
Mesoporous silica nanoparticles (MSNs) attract increasing interest in the field of gene and drug delivery due to their versatile features as a multifunctional drug delivery platform. Here, we describe poly(amidoamine) (PAMAM) dendron-functionalized MSNs that fulfill key prerequisites for a controllable intracellular drug release.

Restoration of human tooth enamel

open access: yesBMEMat, EarlyView.
Human tooth enamel has remarkable properties but lacks self‐repair ability. Existing restorative materials cannot fully replicate enamel's microstructure and function, resulting in low restorative efficiency. This review summarizes the formation process and characteristics of enamel, and current restorative materials and future research directions are ...

In situ synthesis and immobilization of CuO nanoparticles in alginate-poly(amido amine) nanogels for photocatalytic applications

open access: yesMaterials Letters: X, 2022
Herein, we report a feasible approach for preparation of crosslinked alginate (Alg) and poly(amido amine) (PAMAM) nanogels (Alg-PAMAM NGs), using a water-in-oil-in-water (w/o/w) double emulsion route, via strong electrostatic interactions between anionic

One-Step Synthesis of Graphene Oxide-Polyamidoamine Dendrimer Nanocomposite Hydrogels by Self-Assembly [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
Graphene oxide (GO)-polyamidoamine (PAMAM) dendrimer nanocomposite hydrogels were prepared through a one-step synthesis by mixing a GO suspension and a PAMAM solution at varying ratios of GO to PAMAM.

Polyethylene glycolated PAMAM dendrimers-Efavirenz conjugates

open access: yesInternational Journal of Pharmaceutical Investigation, 2014
The preparation of novel PEGylated PAMAM (poly-amidoamine) dendrimers for delivery of anti-HIV drug Efavirenz is reported.About 5.0 G PAMAM dendrimers are prepared by ethylene diamine core via Michael addition by divergent method. PEGylation is done by polyethylene glycol 600 using epichlorhydrin as linker.
