Elastase activity in experimental pancreatitis
Bulletin of Experimental Biology and Medicine, 1980The activity of elastase, elastase inhibitor and isozymes of lactate dehydrogenase (LDH) was studied in 11 dogs with experimental pancreatitis and 5 control dogs. All dogs with experimental pancreatitis died 6--14 hours after the induction of pancreatitis. Morbid anatomy studies proved severe pancreonecrosis.

Purification and characterization of ovine pancreatic elastase
Comparative Biochemistry and Physiology Part B: Biochemistry and Molecular Biology, 1998Elastase was isolated from ovine pancreas and purified to homogeneity by two different procedures. One involved precipitation with ammonium sulphate, p-aminobenzamidine-Sepharose chromatography, CM-Sepharose ion exchange chromatography and S-300 Sephacryl chromatography.

Serum elastase I levels in pancreatic disease
The American Journal of Surgery, 1982The radioimmunoassay for human elastase I used in this study is accurate, sensitive, and specific, which we have confirmed. The assay can be done within 4 hours, which is important for clinical purposes. A total o 103 subjects were examined, and levels of 99 to 370 ng/dl (mean 200) in normal human sera were determined.

Inhibition of Pancreatic Elastase by Polyphenolic Compounds
Journal of Agricultural and Food Chemistry, 2010Polyphenols are plant secondary metabolites commonly present in the human diet that possess the ability to bind and inhibit digestive proteins. In the present study, kinetic measurements of porcine pancreatic elastase (PPE) activity were determined using Suc-(Ala)(3)-p-nitroanilide as substrate and polyphenolic compounds as inhibitors.

Fecal Elastase 1 Determination in Chronic Pancreatitis
Digestive Diseases and Sciences, 1999This study assessed the diagnostic accuracy of fecal elastase 1 in chronic pancreatitis. Fifty-three healthy subjects, 44 patients with chronic pancreatitis (22 severe, 13 moderate, and 9 mild), and 43 patients with nonpancreatic digestive disease were studied.

Elastase 1 in Acute Pancreatitis
1987Besides the introduction of new imaging techniques, the diagnostics of acute pancreatitis have been improved in the last 10 years by new methods of specific pancreatic enzyme determination in serum [3, 7, 8, 11, 18]. Elastase of the pancreas seems to play a dominant role in the pathogenesis of acute pancreatitis, since this proteolytic and elastolytic ...

Pancreatic elastase 1 is secreted from pancreatic acinar cells as one of the digestive enzymes. Pancreatic elastase 1 is present in serum in a complex formation with alpha 1-antitrypsin, and is measured by immunological methods. Serum pancreatic elastase 1 increases in acute pancreatitis and chronic relapsing pancreatitis.

Comparison of the Elastolytic Effects of Human Leukocyte Elastase and Porcine Pancreatic Elastase
Biochemical and Biophysical Research Communications, 1976Porcine and bovine elastins were digested by human leukocyte elastase and porcine pancreatic elastase. The enzymes showed similarities in the extent to which they digested elastin and the pattern and quantitative distribution of N-terminal amino acids in the digests.

Isolation and characterization of rat pancreatic elastase
Biochemistry, 1983Proelastase has been purified to homogeneity from rat pancreatic tissue by a combination of CM-Sephadex and immobilized protease inhibitor affinity resins. Trypsin activation yields an elastolytic enzyme that possesses a specificity toward small hydrophobic residues in synthetic amide substrates, similar to those of porcine elastase 1 and canine ...
