Substrate specificity of human pancreatic elastase 2

Biochemistry, 1980
The substrate specificity of human pancreatic elastase 2 was investigated by using a series of peptide p-nitroanilides. The kinetic constants, kcat and Km, for the hydrolysis of these peptides revealed that this serine protease preferentially hydrolyzes peptides containing P1 amino acids which have medium to large hydrophobic side chains, except for ...

Fecal Pancreatic Elastase 1 Is Inaccurate in the Diagnosis of Chronic Pancreatitis

Pancreas, 1996
Many tests are available to assess pancreatic function. The ideal test would be simple and have adequate sensitivity in mild to moderate chronic pancreatitis (MCP) and severe CP (SCP). Fecal pancreatic elastase 1 (FPE1) assay (ScheBo Tech) has been proposed as a reliable test to evaluate pancreatic exocrine function, with sensitivities of up to 100% in

Spermine as a porcine pancreatic elastase activator: spectroscopic and molecular simulation studies

Journal of Biomolecular Structure and Dynamics, 2020
The aim of this study was to investigate the spermine effect on the thermal denaturation, conformation and activity of elastase at three temperatures of 303, 313 and 323 K in the Tris buffer, at pH 8.5, using UV–vis spectrophotometry, spectrofluorometry ...

Mechanism of elastolysis by pancreatic elastase

Experientia, 1957

Competitive inhibition of pancreatic elastase

Biochimica et Biophysica Acta (BBA) - Enzymology, 1973
Abstract N- Acetyl and N- carbobenzoxy derivatives of dipeptides of alanine, valine, leucine and isoleucine were found to be effective competitive inhibitors of the esterolytic activity of pancreatic elastase (EC 3.4.4.7) with K i values between 1 and 10 mM.

Elastase activity in experimental pancreatitis

Bulletin of Experimental Biology and Medicine, 1980
The activity of elastase, elastase inhibitor and isozymes of lactate dehydrogenase (LDH) was studied in 11 dogs with experimental pancreatitis and 5 control dogs. All dogs with experimental pancreatitis died 6--14 hours after the induction of pancreatitis. Morbid anatomy studies proved severe pancreonecrosis.

Pancreatic Elastase 1 after Pancreatic Transplantation

Pancreas, 1991
Human pancreatic elastase 1 (E1) is a novel pancreas-specific proteinase that has not yet been investigated after pancreatic transplantation (PTx). Using a recently developed E1 ELISA, we studied the E1 serum curves in 36 type I diabetic patients subjected to PTx with enteric exocrine diversion from the pretransplant value up to 8 years after ...

The dose-dependent fate of enzymatically active and inactivated tritiated methylated pancreatic elastase administered intratracheally in the hamster.

American Review of Respiratory Disease, 2015
Hamsters were intratracheally instilled with saline solutions containing a high dose (145 to 220 micrograms) or a low dose (1.3 to 1.5 micrograms) of 3H-methylated pancreatic elastase or N-acetyl-(L-alanyl)3-L-alanine chloromethyl ketone-inactivated 3H ...

Pancreatic Cationic Elastase in Porcine Experimental Pancreatitis

European Surgical Research, 1991
A radioimmunoassay for porcine, cationic, pancreatic elastase (irPE) is described. Normal porcine serum contains only small amounts of irPE (less than 3 micrograms/l). IrPE in serum and peritoneal exudate from 6 pigs with experimental pancreatitis was found mainly in a molecular form corresponding to free pro-enzyme.

Studies on the fate of pancreatic elastase in the hamster lung: 14C-guanidinated elastase.

American Review of Respiratory Disease, 2015
Intratracheal instillation of pancreatic elastase in hamsters produces emphysema, which progresses for up to one year after the insult. To study this process in more detail, a guanidinated derivative of porcine pancreatic elastase labeled with carbon-14 ...
