The complete mitochondrial genome of the fine flounder Paralichthys adspersus revealed by next-generation sequencing

open access: yesMitochondrial DNA. Part B. Resources, 2021
The complete mitochondrial genome of the fine flounder Paralichthys adspersus, was determined for the first time through Next Generation Sequencing (NGS) approach. The mitogenome (GenBank accession no.

Genetic Distances of Paralichthys olivaceus Populations Investigated by PCR

open access: yesDevelopment & Reproduction, 2018
The author carried out PCR-based genetic platform to investigate the hierarchical polar dendrogram of Euclidean genetic distances of one bastard halibut population, particularly for Paralichthys olivaceus, which was further connected with those of the other fish population, by involving with the precisely designed oligonucleotide primer sets.

Transcriptomic Analysis Reveals Functional Interaction of mRNA–lncRNA–miRNA in Steroidogenesis and Spermatogenesis of Gynogenetic Japanese Flounder (Paralichthys olivaceus)

open access: yesBiology, 2022
Teleost fishes exhibit extraordinary diversity, plasticity and adaptability with their sex determination and sexual development, and there is growing evidence that non-coding RNAs (ncRNAs) are emerging as critical regulators of reproduction.

The Plasticity of the Antioxidant Defence System of Coastal Zooplankton Communities

open access: yesEcology and Evolution, Volume 16, Issue 7, July 2026.
In this photo, a copepodite Acartia spp. is represented with Vorticella epiphytes. This photo was taken with the help of a PlanktoScope, which belongs to the Hellenic Centre for Marine Research. Photographer: Andriana Koutsandrea. ABSTRACT Zooplankton are expected to enhance their antioxidant defences and activate stress‐related biomarkers in response ...

Chronic stress of high dietary carbohydrate level causes inflammation and influences glucose transport through SOCS3 in Japanese flounder Paralichthys olivaceus

open access: yesScientific Reports, 2018
Carnivorous fish is thought to be high-glucose intolerance. But the reasons were still unclear. The aim of the present study is to investigate the effects of high level of dietary carbohydrate on the survival, growth and immune responses of Paralichthys ...

Social organization and habitat use shape the gut microbiome of a marine fish

open access: yesJournal of Animal Ecology, Volume 95, Issue 7, Page 1091-1107, July 2026.
This study provides the first evidence linking habitat use—and to a lesser extent social organization—to gut microbiome composition in a wild marine fish. The results indicate that local habitat conditions are the primary driver of microbial variation, while social effects are detectable but weak.

On a Trematoda Parasitic to the Flatfish Larva (Paralichthys olivaceus)

open access: yesFish Pathology, 1980
A trematode was frequently found in the stomach of the flatfish larvae under culture in the Niigata Prefectural Center of Cultural Fisheries. Preliminary culture experiments using different kinds of zooplanktons as feed were done to know the source of infection of the trematoda. The trematoda occurred frequently in the larvae given marine copepods ...

Biological Estimation of Waste Products from Olive Flounder (Paralichthys olivaceus) Fed on Three Different Feed Types

open access: yes, 2009
Waste products were biologically estimated from juvenile flounder (Paralichthys olivaceus) on three diet types—raw fish-based moist pellets, moist pellets, and extruded pellets.

A Complete Telomere‐To‐Telomere Assembly of Plectropomus leopardus and Phylogenomic Insights Into Perciformes

open access: yesEvolutionary Applications, Volume 19, Issue 7, July 2026.
ABSTRACT The leopard coral grouper, Plectropomus leopardus Lacepède, 1802, is an ecologically and economically important species in the family Epinephelidae. However, the absence of a complete reference genome has impeded advanced genetic research on this species, and the phylogenetic position of Epinephelidae within Perciformes remains unresolved ...
